  • Patent number: 8913074
Abstract: A method for colorization of images is presented. The method comprises the following steps: Displaying an image (102); applying multiple color markings (at least two colors are different) to the displayed image (104); automatically coloring the image by applying a constrained optimization to a cost function that is responsive to the marked colors and the intensity differences of the neighborhoods of some of all of the pixels (106); the resultant image is subsequently stored (110), displayed (108), or transferred (112).
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: December 16, 2014
Assignee: Yissum Research Development Company of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem

  • Patent number: 8451338
Abstract: Object motion during camera exposure often leads to noticeable blurring artifacts. Proper elimination of this blur is challenging because the blur kernel is unknown, varies over the image as a function of object velocity, and destroys high frequencies. In the case of motions along a 1D direction (e.g. horizontal), applicants show that these challenges can be addressed using a camera that moves during the exposure. Through the analysis of motion blur as space-time integration, applicants show that a parabolic integration (corresponding to constant sensor acceleration) leads to motion blur that is not only invariant to object velocity, but preserves image frequency content nearly optimally. That is, static objects are degraded relative to their image from a static camera, but all moving objects within a given range of motions reconstruct well.

  • Publication number: 20120123893
Abstract: Device, system, and method for trading units of Unique Valuable Assets (UVAs). For example, a method for securitizing a Unique Valuable Asset (UVA) may include: transferring custody and ownership in the UVA from a settling owner of the UVA to a fiduciary entity; issuing by the fiduciary entity a plurality of tradable UVA certificates which correspond to portions of ownership rights in the UVA; electronically selling by the fiduciary entity one or more of the tradable UVA certificates, through an auction, to one or more purchasers; and transferring from the fiduciary entity to the settling owner at least some of monetary consideration received by the fiduciary entity from said one or more purchasers of tradable UVA certificates.

  • Patent number: 7692664
Abstract: In a method and system for matting a foreground object F having an opacity ? constrained by associating a characteristic with selected pixels in an image having a background B, weights are determined for all edges of neighboring pixels for the image and used to build a Laplacian matrix L. The equation ? is solved where ?=arg min ?T L? s.t.?i=si, ?i?S, S is the group of selected pixels, and si is the value indicated by the associated characteristic. The equation Ii=?iFi+(1??i)Bi is solved for F and B with additional smoothness assumptions on F and B; after which the foreground object F may be composited on a selected background B? that may be the original background B or may be a different background, thus allowing foreground features to be extracted from the original image and copied to a different background.
