  • Publication number: 20030080309
Abstract: A valve assembly including a valve body having an elongated passage through which product flows and a valve element which rotates about an axis extending generally normal to an axis defined by the passage in the valve body is disclosed. The valve element is mounted in the valve body passage to control product flow through the passage as a function of the position of the valve element. The diameter of a valve body bore within which the valve element rotates is equal to or greater than the passage it seals. A seal structure cooperates with the valve element to selectively seal the passage.

  • Patent number: 6553878
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a unique torsional cutting apparatus. Two plates, referred to as a stationary and rotating plate member, are positioned and held in place next to each other using any convention means such as spring tensioned bolts. There is a zero gap between the two plate members. A hole in the general shape of the object to be cut is fashioned through the two plate members so that the object to be cut can be placed into and through the hole. The hole is tapered towards the center of the rotary torsion cutting apparatus thereby allowing ease of insertion, a more precise cut, and the elimination of burring.

  • Patent number: 6523621
Abstract: A fluidic connector comprises an independent adjunct to a pneumatic tool and is adapted to be fluidically interposed between an air supply hose and a fitting of the pneumatic tool. The connector comprises a piston-type valve member. Exhaust generated from each fastener firing operation or cycle maintains the piston-type valve member at a first position so as to permit the incoming air supply to reach the tool, however, if the tool is not fired within a predetermined period of time, the piston-type valve member is automatically moved to a second position which prevents the air supply from reaching the tool thereby disabling the same.

  • Patent number: 6263562
Abstract: A U-nut type fastener installation tool, for installing individual U-nut fasteners from a vertically stacked, nested, or collated strip or array of such fasteners disposed within a magazine portion of the tool, comprises a base portion and the magazine portion which is pivotally mounted upon the base portion. The magazine portion also serves as an operator handle. A biasing spring within the magazine biases the collated strip of fasteners toward a dispensing position. When a fastener is to be dispensed and mounted upon an edge portion of a support plate or panel, the magazine-handle is tilted from its normal position by means of which movement a lowermost one of the fasteners is separated from the collated strip of fasteners remaining within the tool magazine.

  • Patent number: 5036625
Abstract: This invention relates to a complete double lap lapping and polishing machine particularly to an apparatus designed to finish to a required thickness and/or finished polish workpiece such as thin silicon and/or ceramic wafers. The machine includes improvements in all of it's substructure components, including it's overall housing design, planetary gear drive, fluid cooling systems, positioning and locking of the upper lap plate in an inoperative position, an automatic thickness or sizing control, rotary union with automatic fluid liquid indicator and a slurry delivery and recovery system, all of which result in a more automated efficient use of the machine so as to produce a closer tolerance finished product.

  • Patent number: 4860498
Abstract: A device for automatically sizing (thickness control) a workpiece of a double wheeled lapping machine, during the lapping process with simultaneous runout of the lower lap compensation. The device provides an annular ring attached in parallelism to the upper plate, together with a roller follower having contact with the under surface of the ring, with the follower pivoted upon an adjustable mounting arm attached to a vertically extending stationary post mounted beyond the circumference of the ring on a supporting shelf formed as a part of the machine casing. A movement responsive probe is in contact with the follower and responds to any deviation in flatness of the workpiece as it is transmitted therefrom onto the lapping surfaces of dual lap plates during the lapping thereof.

  • Patent number: 4720938
Abstract: A fixture for dressing the polishing surfaces of a platen to maintain it in a planar condition, including a flexible carrier which is adapted to be rotated independently of the rotation of the surface to be dressed, with the carrier providing an opening for the placement therein of a dressing pad. About the edges of the opening there are provided a plurality of driving keys which will engage appropriate edge surfaces of the dressing pad for effecting rotation of the dressing pad with the flexible carrier relative to the surface to be dressed.
