  • Patent number: 6945671
Abstract: A compact portable fluorescent lighting unit provides concentrated even coverage illumination for many visual arts, theater, studio or location applications. Beam width is conveniently user-adjustable without tools, typically in three steps: 60, 70 and 90 degrees. A pair of identical lighting cells are stacked one above the other; each cell can utilize any one of a variety of fluorescent lamps providing powerful illumination. Each cell has an efficient reflector and provision for beam width selection by varying the spacing of the lamp from the rear of the reflector via easily adjustable socket/lamp support brackets. A welded aluminum mounting yoke, with arms swivel-attached to opposite ends of the housing, can be set to any desired orientation for beam-aiming and locked in place to the housing by a user knob. The yoke can be affixed directly to building structure or mounted via a pipe or stand adaptor, optionally swivelled to provide a second beam-aiming axis.

  • Patent number: 5430630
Abstract: For recessed lighting fixtures, particularly those mounted in ceilings, the present invention provides an easily attached removable accessory device for deflecting a portion of the light path in a selected direction that differs from the original direction, e.g. deflecting downwardly directed light to a substantially horizontal direction. A mirror assembly, typically having two round flat reflecting surfaces, one on each side, is supported by a wire hanger element via an axle portion passing diametrically through the mirror; the hanger element has a pair of hooks at the upper ends of two side wires that engage the recessed light fixture at any desired orientation around the axis of the fixture. The mirror can be tilted to any angle, and is retained at the selected tilt angle by friction of the wire axle being clamped between of a pair of resilient pads.

  • Patent number: 5142459
Abstract: A fluorescent indirect lighting fixture of the hidden source offset reflector type incorporates a novel reflector mounting system which provides advantages of extended uniform "wash" illumination with unusual concealment of the light source from direct view, along with extremenly easy reflector installation and replacement. The reflector, formed to the required special curvature from a thin sheet of suitable metal such as high purity aluminum, is sprung into place between two opposite edges of a window opening in the metal fixture housing in a tongue-and-groove type engagement along the two edges where it is retained in place by the resilience of the reflector with no need for adhesives, screws or other fastenings. Illumination coverage and lamp concealment are both maximized by configuring the reflector and its mounting system uncompromisingly such that both of the straight end regions of the curved reflector extend smoothly and fully to a plane flush with the surrounding ceiling or wall surface.

  • Patent number: 4703406
Abstract: A lamp mounting structure for use in recessed lighting fixtures comprises a planar portion having an illumination aperture over which a translucent plate may be removably retained. A lamp may be removably retained over said aperture by resilient tabs which extend inwardly beyond the edges of the aperture so as to engage the lamp whether or not such a translucent plate is interposed between it and the planar portion of the lamp mounting structure.
