Patent number: 11992712Abstract: An apparatus and an associated method relates to a directionally polarized deceleration module (PDM) include a shuttle (125) fixedly coupled to a spring-biased spool (120) rotatable coupled to a module housing (115), a dynamic braking member (DBM) (130) and the shuttle (125) configured to travel inside a channel anchored to the module housing (115). A tether may be anchored on a proximal end to the spool (120). As the tether is retracted, the DBM (130) may be pushed by an angled distal-end of the shuttle (125). The DBM (130) may be forced between the angled distal-end of the shuttle (125) and an inner channel wall, providing motional resistance to the tether. As the tether is extracted, the DBM (130) may be pushed substantially normal to a proximal-end of the shuttle (125), providing minimal motional resistance to the tether. Various PDMs may decelerate safety lanyards in one direction to substantially avoid tangling and/or damage.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2018Date of Patent: May 28, 2024Assignee: HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL INC.Inventors: Anbo Sun, Frank Lin, Peng Zhou, Xiaojuan Zhu, Tingjun Zhou

Patent number: 11694534Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to a smart hook, a safety harness module, and associated electronic components that detect a safety state of a user by monitoring various parameters at the smart hook and safety harness module and determining whether the user is using proper safety protocol at extreme heights and/or whether the user has experienced a height-related accident. In an illustrative example, the user may don a safety harness that may include a module that contains sensors that monitor an acceleration/velocity/position of the user and/or ambient air pressure around the user. The module may receive wireless signals from at least one rebar hook having sensors that monitor the acceleration/velocity/position and gate position of the rebar hooks. A controller included with the safety harness module may use these sensors to advantageously determine the safety state of the user and generate alert/warning signals.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2022Date of Patent: July 4, 2023Assignee: HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL INC.Inventors: Frank Lin, Wei Zhang, Jennifer Shen, Anbo Sun, Zhiqiang Liu, Pinghua Jiang

Publication number: 20230098769Abstract: A harnesses for fall protection and methods of manufacturing the same are provided. The harness includes a horizontal connecting webbing with a force receiving mechanism. The horizontal connecting webbing including a first horizontal receiving loop at a first end of the horizontal connecting webbing. The harness also includes a first upper webbing configured with a upper webbing loop that is engaged with the first horizontal receiving loop at the first end of the horizontal connecting webbing. The harness further includes a first lower webbing configured with a lower webbing loop that is engaged with first horizontal receiving loop at the first end of the horizontal connecting webbing. The first upper webbing and the first lower webbing are independent of one another. A corresponding method of manufacturing the harness is also provided so as to withstand various large forces during operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 19, 2020Publication date: March 30, 2023Inventors: Peng ZHOU, XiaoJuan ZHU, Ling LIN, Anbo SUN
