  • Patent number: 7406364
Abstract: A method to calculate energy demand in an energy generation, transmission and distribution network including one or more power plants based on different energy source types including renewable energy, a communications system and one or more local consumption metering units. A customer demand profile for one or more customers is provided. A customer-specified proportion of power demand to be supplied from a given energy source type is registered. A total predicted energy demand dependent is calculated in part on an accumulated demand for the given energy source type.

  • Publication number: 20050127680
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product enhance the commercial value of electrical power produced from a wind turbine production facility. Features include the use of a premier power conversion device that provides an alternative source of power for supplementing an output power of the wind turbine generation facility when lull periods for wind speed appear. The invention includes a communications infrastructure and coordination mechanism for establishing a relationship with another power production facility such that when excess electrical power is produced by the wind turbine facility, the excess may be provided to the power grid while the other energy production facility cuts back on its output production by a corresponding amount. A tracking mechanism keeps track of the amount of potential energy that was not expended at the other facility and places this amount in a virtual energy storage account, for the benefit of the wind turbine facility.

  • Publication number: 20050055137
Abstract: The present invention relates to supervision and control of an energy generation, transmission and distribution system. In particular the present invention discloses a system, method and a computer program product for calculating a demand for energy from power plants based one or more different energy source types, including electrical energy generated from a renewable energy source.

  • Patent number: 6742280
Abstract: A method in consolidation and drying of paper. A wet web is contacted with superheated steam, whose temperature is 200-600° C. for the purpose of reducing, by heat transfer from the superheated stream, the water content of the web by evaporation of a substantial part of the water in the same. The wet web is supported and transported by means of a heat-conductive, gas-impermeable belt whose width is equal to or exceeds the width of the web, and jets of the superheated steam are directed towards the side of the web facing away from the belt.

  • Patent number: 6042527
Abstract: An apparatus and method for forming an erected carton from a blank for cartons having non-traditional configurations is disclosed herein. Such non-traditional configurations may include beveled edge cartons and eight-sided cartons. The apparatus includes rolling means for breaking a first set of crease lines on the blank, force exertion means for breaking a second set of crease lines on the blank, and maintenance means for maintaining the shape of en erected carton. The present invention also includes a mandrel configured to substantially match the side configuration of a carton such as a beveled edge carton.

  • Patent number: 5865217
Abstract: A filling system of a packaging machine is set forth that reduces the mixing of product and air during the filling of the container with a flowable material such as low fat milk. The fill pipe of the filling system has an elliptical cross-section which provides for a reduced velocity of the flowable material entering the container while allowing for an increased production time of the packaging machine. The fill system is especially adopted to fill containers having a rectangular cross-section. Connected to the fill pipe is a nozzle with flaps designed to substantially conform and engage with the sidewalls of a container. When the flaps are urged to an open position, the mixing of air and product is inhibited as the flowable material is dispensed into the container through the nozzle and as a moving mechanism is operated to relatively move the container and nozzle from a first to a second position. The fill pipe has an elongate body, an inlet end and an outlet end.

  • Patent number: 5536469
Abstract: System employing a sterile medical solution containing glucose or glucose polymers, for example nutritional solutions or solutions for peritoneal dialysis, whereby the majority of the solution is packed in a first package, while the glucose or the glucose polymers are separately packed in a second package, whereafter the two packages are heat sterilized. The content of the glucose or glucose polymers in the second package is maintained above 10% by weight, preferably above 20% by weight and most preferably in the order of 40% by weight in order to reduce or totally eliminate the breakdown of glucose. The medical solution after sterilization, mixing and diluting to 1.5% glucose content has an absorbency caused by breakdown products from glucose at 228 nm less than 0.35 and preferably in the order of 0.20 or lower. The medical solution is also defined in that after sterilization, mixing and dilution to 1.
