Patent number: 9804254Abstract: A method for determining the time of receipt by a radio receiver of a binary coded radio message emitted by a sender. A radio signal containing the message is received by the receiver. An analog electrical signal is generated, sampled and optionally demodulated. The data content of the message is determined based upon the demodulated signal as a stream of data bits. The stream of data bits comprises a predetermined signal element whose time of receipt is determined. A digitally stored, constructed comparison signal is created based upon the stream of data bits. The constructed comparison signal is constructed to correspond to the sampled signal, in that a time variable which maximizes a correlation between the constructed comparison signal and the sampled signal is determined, and in that the time variable is then used to correct the time determination of the receipt of the predetermined signal element.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2014Date of Patent: October 31, 2017Assignee: TRUE HEADING ABInventors: Nils Willart, Bengt Johansson, Anders Bergström

Patent number: 9807554Abstract: A method of sending the value of a status variable from a sending device to a receiving device as part of a standardized binary coded radio message. The message includes fields for predetermined information to be sent with the message as well as a buffer field. The method includes causing the sending device to assemble, calculate a checksum for, digitally store and periodically transmit a predetermined type of message in the form of a radio signal readable by a receiving device. The status variable is not related to the predetermined information. Before the checksum is calculated, the sending device inserts the value of the status variable in binary coded format into the message in a buffer field. According to a governing messaging standard, the buffer field is not intended to transmit information. The receiving device interprets the binary value as the value of the status variable.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2013Date of Patent: October 31, 2017Assignee: TRUE HEADING ABInventors: Nils Willart, Anders Bergström

Publication number: 20160259031Abstract: Method for determining the time of receipt by a radio receiver (320,330,340) of a binary coded radio message emitted by a sender (310), whereby the radio signal is received by the receiver so that an analogue electrical signal is achieved, which analogue signal is sampled and optionally demodulated, whereby the data content of the message is determined based upon the demodulated signal as a stream of data bits, which stream of data bits comprises a predetermined signal element whose time of receipt is determined. The invention is characterised in that a digitally stored, constructed comparison signal is created based upon the said stream of data bits, so that the constructed comparison signal is constructed to correspond to the sampled signal, in that a time variable which maximizes a correlation between the constructed comparison signal and the sampled signal is determined, and in that the time variable is then used to correct the said time determination of the receipt of the predetermined signal element.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2014Publication date: September 8, 2016Applicant: TRUE HEADING ABInventors: Nils WILLART, Bengt JOHANSSON, Anders BERGSTRÖM

Publication number: 20150281900Abstract: Method of sending the value of a status variable between a sending device (100; 201) and a receiving device (201, 100) as part of a standardized binary coded radio message within the scope of a distributed message system, which message comprises fields for a certain predetermined information to be sent with the message as well as a buffer field, comprising the steps of: causing the sending device to assemble, calculate a checksum for, digital store and periodically transmit a certain predetermined type of message in the form of a radio signal (120; 220) which is readable for a receiving device, and causing the receiving device to receive and interpret the thus transmitted message.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 8, 2013Publication date: October 1, 2015Inventors: Nils Willart, Anders Bergström

Patent number: 7738506Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for synchronization of real-time signals between core network and air interface in a UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRAN). The synchronization of the signals is needed to make a feasible connection between user equipment and a core network. This is achieved by using the timing knowledge from the protocols that are to be synchronized, and recalculating synchronization parameters for both uplink and downlink transmission. By using frame numbers instead of time of arrivals of frames, the present invention gives better control of timing and avoids long delays, and handles the problems with time alignments.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2001Date of Patent: June 15, 2010Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM EricssonInventor: Anders Bergström

Patent number: 7493119Abstract: A method in a communication system comprising a access network with Radio Network controllers (RNC) and radio base stations (RBS or Node B) consisting of main units (MU) which performs base band signal processing and one or more radio remote units (RRUs) which converts between baseband and radio frequencies and transmits and receives signals over one or more antennas, covering cells, and one or several User equipment (UE or Phones) moving closer and closer to another cell, which said network is made aware of and then it will initiate a handover process, during which the call will be transferred from one cell to another cell within said radio base station (RBS or Node B)or to a cell in another Radio base station (RBS or Node B)in said communication network. Said handover process interact with a memory containing a list (softer handover group) of said radio remote units (RRUs) capable of doing softer handover with each other using the same Rake receiver.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2004Date of Patent: February 17, 2009Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (PUBL)Inventors: Anders Bergström, Benedikt Aschermann, Jacob Österling
