  • Publication number: 20130051352
Abstract: A method for uplink power control at a mobile station which is served by a base station of a communications network comprising a plurality of base stations is provided where the power spectrum density of the mobile station is adaptable based on the bandwidth scheduled to the mobile station. The suggested power spectrum adaptation is obtained by providing for a switch to an alternative power control mode which enables for transmit power boosting at the mobile station. The decision whether to apply the suggested power spectrum adaptation can be made at the base station which is serving the mobile station, or at a selected mobile station.

  • Publication number: 20120314742
Abstract: Method and arrangement in a serving base station for determining a binary value of information data received from a user equipment, by using a supportive likelihood value received from a supporting base station. The user equipment transmits information data to be received both by the serving base station and the supporting base station base station. The method comprises: decoding information data bits received from the user equipment into a first likelihood value, without determining a binary value for each bit of the information data, a supportive likelihood value of the information data bits transmitted from the user equipment is received from the supporting base station, which supportive likelihood value is based on a decoding of the information data bits performed in the supporting base station. The first likelihood value of the decoded information bits is combined with the received supportive likelihood value of the decoded information bits.

  • Patent number: 8325621
Abstract: According to the present invention, a method in a base station is provided for predicting interference contribution, when scheduling an uplink data packet transmission from a first user equipment. The first user equipment is connected to the base station. The first user equipment is in the neighbor of a neighboring cell served by a neighboring base station. The method comprises the steps of: Obtaining signal strength measurements regarding the first user equipment. The signal strength measurements are based on a signal between the first user equipment and the neighboring base station; Receiving a resource scheduling request regarding the first user equipment for the uplink data packet transmission; Scheduling uplink resources for the requested uplink data packet transmission; Determining transmission power to be used for the scheduled uplink resources, and: Estimating an interference prediction contribution based on the determined transmission power and the obtained signal strength.

  • Publication number: 20120276937
Abstract: Methods and arrangements in a telecommunication network for intercell interference coordination. The telecommunication network comprises a first base station, acting as serving base station for a mobile station, and a second base station. The method comprises determining that transmission interference to the mobile station is to be limited. The method also comprises triggering the mobile station to send a signal on a radio resource, which signal is to be received by the second base station, enabling the second base station to select a transmission parameter that limits interference for the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 8036671
Abstract: The present invention relates to a scheduler selector and a method for improving network quality by controlling intercellular interference of a multi-cellular mobile radio communication network. The radio communication traffic is controlled by a user traffic scheduler principle. The network quality is improved by selecting another scheduling principle among a number of pre-defined and selectable scheduling principles than the scheduling principle working for the moment in a cell in said network. Said selection being initiated as a result of an intracellular Quality data processing wherein the network quality is determined to be possible to improve.

  • Publication number: 20110230200
Abstract: A system includes a first device (110) to classify data as one of a control message or a non-control message, and provide the classification of the data to a second device (122). The second device (122) receives the classification of the data, receives information associated with a resource (460), calculates an expected interference associated with the resource (460) based on the information associated with the resource (460), and allocates, to the resource (460), data classified as a control message when the expected interference corresponds to a low expected interference.

  • Publication number: 20110176500
Abstract: In one aspect of the disclosed teachings, associating a plurality of contention-based uplink grants with a range of uplink resource blocks allows one contention-based uplink grant message to signal the entire plurality of grants. As an example in the LTE context, the signaling load on the PDCCH is reduced by using a single contention-based uplink grant message to signal a plurality of contention-based uplink grants. The message indicates an allocated set of uplink resource blocks and the number of separate uplink resource grants represented by the set is known or signaled, such that user terminals recognize that separate subsets of uplink resource blocks within the set each correspond to a separate contention-based uplink grant. Information included in the contention-based uplink grant message, or otherwise signaled can be used to control the probability at which the user terminals attempt contention-based uplink transmissions and/or to control the MCS used for such transmissions.

  • Patent number: 7961752
Abstract: A method of controlling access in a telecommunication network in which a communication medium, such as a set of frequencies, time slots, or codes, is shared among a plurality of mobile units. Transmissions from the mobile units utilize different access modes, such as a direct access mode and a scheduled access mode. Additionally, the transmissions are divided into different communication types, each having an associated priority. A mode access control unit determines for each priority, which access mode to utilize for the associated communication type. Mobile units having data to transmit access the shared communication medium utilizing the access mode determined for the priority of the communication type to which the data belongs.

  • Publication number: 20110075594
Abstract: A method performed in a wireless network includes receiving signals within a downlink frequency domain to enable channel estimation and measuring two or more signals only for two or more frequency bands of the downlink frequency domain that correspond to two or more uplink frequency bands associated with a scheduling grant or channel allocation that correspond to physical uplink channel frequency bands. The method also includes calculating path loss values for each of the frequency bands and calculating a total power based on the path loss values corresponding to the frequency bands. The method further includes determining a power allocation per frequency band based on the calculated total power to be applied to an uplink transmission and allocating the total power.

  • Publication number: 20100210297
Abstract: The present invention provides a user equipment for a telecommunications system, the telecommunications system comprising at least a first radio basestation. The user equipment comprises means for controlling a transmission power of the user equipment, such that said transmission power has a first value for a first set of one or more signals sent over a physical channel between the user equipment and the first radio basestation. The first value and said second value are different. In alternative embodiments, the second set of signals are transmitted taking into account information from the serving cell and a neighbouring cell, while the first set of signals are transmitted taking into account information from the serving cell only.
