Patent number: 7135514Abstract: The present invention provides a method and product that provides a dust-free homogeneous dispersion of zinc diacrylate in polybutadiene for use in golf balls. More specifically, the invention relates to a dispersion of zinc diacrylate in a special high-cis grade of polybutadiene commonly used by golf ball manufacturers. We have found that such a dispersion of ZDA can be made by using specific processing promoters, which not only allow the manufacture of the predispersion, but have a beneficial effect on the final properties of the golf ball. The processing promoters of the present invention enable more uniform dispersion of the ZDA into the polymer matrix, eliminate sticking to the mixer rotors, provide improved extrusion and pelletizing rates, as well as function as a separant to greatly minimize, if not totally eliminate, massing of the pelletized product.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2002Date of Patent: November 14, 2006Assignee: Rhein Chemie CorporationInventor: Anders H. Johansson

Patent number: 6323260Abstract: Particles are hydrophobicized by treatment with a compound containing amino and silane groups. The invention is particularly useful for treating hydrophilic inorganic particles. The treated particles can be used, for example, as a compound agent for polymers. The production and use of a predispersion or concentrate comprising a major amount of the treated particles and a binder is also described.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1998Date of Patent: November 27, 2001Assignees: Bayer Inc., Rhein Chemie CorporationInventors: Ahti A. Koski, Anders H. Johansson

Patent number: 6042527Abstract: An apparatus and method for forming an erected carton from a blank for cartons having non-traditional configurations is disclosed herein. Such non-traditional configurations may include beveled edge cartons and eight-sided cartons. The apparatus includes rolling means for breaking a first set of crease lines on the blank, force exertion means for breaking a second set of crease lines on the blank, and maintenance means for maintaining the shape of en erected carton. The present invention also includes a mandrel configured to substantially match the side configuration of a carton such as a beveled edge carton.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1998Date of Patent: March 28, 2000Assignee: Tetra Laval Holdings & Finance, SAInventors: Paul Anderson, Anders H. Johansson, Anders Andren

Patent number: 4752507Abstract: Reaction products of sulfur with an unsaturated reactant selected from d-limonene, 5-ethylidene-2-norbornene, styrene, and dicyclopentadiene, reacted at a temperature above the melting point of sulfur and below 159.degree. C. until chemically combined, then further reacted above the melting point of sulfur until solidified. The resulting products serve as vulcanizing agents when compounded with rubber. The unvulcanized rubber compounds exhibit less blooming and better adhesion to a variety of substrates than rubber compositions compounded with soluble or insoluble sulfur. Vulcanizates containing the present compositions and a method for increasing the adhesion of rubber to a substrate during a vulcanization process are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1987Date of Patent: June 21, 1988Assignee: Morton Thiokol, Inc.Inventors: Anders H. Johansson, Stephen K. Flanders

Patent number: 4263184Abstract: A homogeneous predispersed fiber composition useful for dispersing a fibrous material in a rubber or plastic compound stock, said composition comprising a fibrous material and a rubber or plastic polymer binder, wherein said composition is prepared by mixing a latex of the rubber or plastic polymer with the fibrous material to form a wetted fiber mixture, mixing a coagulant with the wetted fiber mixture thereby forming the predispersed fiber composition, wherein the total amount of water present in the wetted fiber mixture prior to coagulation is substantially equal to that required to completely wet the fibrous material by either capillary action, surface adsorption or a combination thereof.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1977Date of Patent: April 21, 1981Assignee: Wyrough and Loser, Inc.Inventors: Thomas J. Leo, Anders H. Johansson
