  • Patent number: 9357911
Abstract: Systems and methods for improving the reliability of glaucoma diagnosis and progression analysis are described. The measurements made from one type of diagnostic device are adjusted based on another measurement using a priori knowledge of the relationship between the two measurements including the relationship between structure and function, knowledge of disease progression, and knowledge of instrument performance at specific locations in the eye. The adjusted or fused measurement values can be displayed to the clinician, compared to normative data, or used as input in a machine learning classifier to enhance the diagnostic and progression analysis of the disease.

  • Patent number: 6527391
Abstract: The invention relates to visual field tests, wherein a plurality of visual stimuli are successively presented to a test subject and the responses from the test subject are recorded in order to determine the test subject's perception of visual stimuli. With the aid of a confidence level function and the recorded responses, at least two visual field test values of different confidence levels are calculated. A result of the visual field test and an indication of the confidence thereof, which are based on the two visual field test values of each test location, are displayed to the user.

  • Patent number: 5598235
Abstract: In a method of testing a subject's response to visual stimuli, a plurality of visual stimuli are presented to the subject by means of a perimeter. After each stimulus presentation, the perimeter waits for a response from the test subject during at most a predetermined time period. The perimeter then classifies each stimulus as seen, unseen or uncertain, depending on whether a response is detected within the predetermined time period as well as on the time of receipt of any such detected response. Stimuli classified as uncertain are repeated and are not used for the calculation of threshold values.

  • Patent number: 5461435
Abstract: In a method of checking the threshold values of a subject's perception of visual stimuli, for each one of a selection of test series, the estimated error of a threshold value estimate of the test series is used to judge whether the test series is to be continued or not. This means that a test series may be discontinued as soon as the threshold value thereof can be determined with acceptable accuracy. Preferably, a posterior probability function is used for estimating the error. An apparatus for carrying out the method includes a control unit operating according to the method.

  • Patent number: 5381195
Abstract: In a method of testing a subject's perception of successively presented visual stimuli, a predetermined preliminary response time window is used at the beginning of the test to preliminarily classify the visual stimuli as "seen" or "not seen" depending on whether or not a response is received from the subject within the preliminary response time window. To permit reclassification of the visual stimuli at a later stage, the time of reception of every response, whether outside or within the preliminary response time windows, is stored. When an appropriate number of stimuli have been presented, a subject-adapted response time window is determined on the basis of the stored times of reception of the responses. This subject-adapted response time window is used for reclassifying the preliminarily classified stimuli.
