  • Publication number: 20090319497
Abstract: The utilization of data services (such as web services) may involve the invocation of services, which may reduce performance and overburden the server. In some scenarios, the invocation may be specified in a language that does not support batch invocation, but it may not be feasible to re-code the invocations in a language that supports batching. Instead, the service invocations may be automatically translated into a batch logic specified in a batch-capable language and sent to the service as a batch. For example, a local proxy may receive a language-integrated query having two or more service invocations, compile the query into an expression tree including the two or more invocations, and send the expression tree to the service host to achieve the batch processing of the service invocations.

  • Patent number: 7631011
Abstract: The subject disclosure pertains to code generation patterns for use in object relational mapping. The code patterns may be used to manage bidirectional relationships and ensure consistency. The code patterns may support on-demand or deferred loading of relational data. Change detection and tracking are also provided. In addition, a default member modifier allows developers to override tool generated source code without directly modifying the generated source code.

  • Patent number: 7627594
Abstract: The subject disclosure pertains to systems and methods for supporting null capabilities for general purpose programming languages. Low level, runtime support for a nullable type is provided to ensure consistency and coherency. An execution component restricts support of the nullable type to programming language types that lack a null capability. The execution component may also provide support for conversion between the nullable type and a reference type.

  • Publication number: 20090210400
Abstract: Aspects of the subject matter described herein relate to translating an identifier in a request into a data structure. In aspects, a client sends a data access request that includes a URI formatted according to the HTTP protocol. The data access request may include a request to create, change, retrieve, or delete one or more resources. The URI is received by a server that has components to translate the URI into a data structure that defines one or more resources indicated by the URI. This data structure is passed to a data source adapter that translates the data structure into operations used to access data on the data source associated with the data source adapter. There may be a plurality of data source adapters with each data source adapter structured to access data on a particular data source using the data structure to define the resources to access.

  • Patent number: 7574701
Abstract: A special syntax is developed to differentiate between accesses to a primary and one or more secondary object protocols in a programming language. The syntax allows the compiler to differentiate between the primary and secondary object model based on syntax, rather than type. The syntax is created in such a way as to approximate the syntax of the secondary object model, and allows the user to dynamically generate member names.

  • Publication number: 20090077120
Abstract: An object-relational mapping mechanism facilitates customized relationship traversal. The mechanism can override default loading behavior with custom functionality (e.g., eager loading, lazy loading . . . ) specified by a programmer, for example. In other words, the object-relational mapping mechanism includes an extensibility point or hook for customization.

  • Publication number: 20090063555
Abstract: A unique formatting scheme for object-relational mapping allows disparate applications that adopt the scheme to seamlessly access data in disparate relational databases. The formatting scheme contemplates a common format that conveys the mapping information through (i) attributes embedded with code objects, and (ii) an external mapping source. Adoption of the common format can result in several advantages for network-based client-server operations: (i) Software developers can continue programming in their existing languages. (ii) Data servers from various vendors can also continue to be developed and managed in the vendors' core programming languages. (iii) Vendors that employ client applications which have adopted the common format can consistently use various data warehouses without incurring customization costs.

  • Patent number: 7500224
Abstract: A blueprint is described that provides a framework for writing a code generator. A blueprint translator translates the blueprint into one or more classes with source code. The newly generated code can then be compiled. If the user wishes to add additional functionality to a generated class, this is done in a separate source file. At compilation time, the compiler combines the generated class with the user's additions, as if they were written in a single class. Later, if the blueprint is ever changed, the generated code can safely be updated without overwriting the user's additions. Alternately, the user can embed his desired additions or changes directly into the blueprint (embedded code). In this manner, should the blueprint ever be re-compiled, the user's changes will still be present. The partial classes technique can be used in conjunction with the embedded code technique.

  • Publication number: 20090006450
Abstract: Memory efficient data processing is provided in a computer environment. A data representation or description is utilized to reduce memory footprint. A data structure can be serialized iteratively utilizing the representation rather than first loading the entire data structure to memory. Portions of the data structure can be materialized to and removed from memory as function of operational need.

  • Publication number: 20090006429
Abstract: Programming mechanisms for data parsing facilitate both clear code specification and efficient execution. Declarative style code can be employed to enable clear and concise specification of data parsing. Further, an efficient parsing approach can be utilized that enables processing of a data structure without first materializing the entire structure to memory. More specifically, streaming and/or selective materialization of portions of data to memory can be employed.

  • Publication number: 20080320440
Abstract: Providing for read/write access to captured free variables expressed as environment data objects is disclosed herein. By way of example, free variables can be rewritten as a field of a private class, and accessed via an instance of the private class captured within the environment data object. In such a manner, no need of a placeholder or proxy function is required to access the free variable. Consequently, the subject innovation provides a simplified method for capturing free variables within expression trees and providing read/write access to such variables.

  • Patent number: 7454436
Abstract: A system for managing data element names, comprises a parent table for listing names of data elements that is constrained such that the parent table cannot grow beyond a first predetermined size. The system also includes a child table for listing names of data elements that is derived from the parent table and that is constrained such that the child table cannot grow beyond a second predetermined size. Methods for using the system are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20080282238
Abstract: A static type computer language provides optional dynamic typing triggered by a unique static type. The unique static type can be utilized anywhere other types can be employed to identify programmatic elements that are late bound. As a result, static types can be analyzed at compile time while deferring analysis of dynamic types until runtime.

  • Publication number: 20080262992
Abstract: Systems and methods facilitate type inference in a computer-programming environment. Type inference can be applied to generic method or function invocation in object-oriented languages to determine a type argument list left implicit by a programmer. One or more type arguments can be identified as a parameter type to which all other types in a set of associated parameter types can be converted.

  • Publication number: 20080243764
Abstract: A group join query facilitates navigation of relationships (e.g., one-to-many or many-to-one) across a plurality of data collections. Such a query operator produces nested or hierarchical results that capture the arguments passed thereto. If desired, the nested results can be flattened to simulate conventional relational database results.

  • Publication number: 20080196014
Abstract: Partial methods enable separation of method declaration and/or calls from method implementation. A partial method specifies a signature of a join or hook point in a class. Calls to a partial method specify a join or hook point in code that can optionally be linked with an actual method implementation of the same signature. Separate method implementations or other code related to a partial method are injected into a single program prior to execution. Unimplemented partial methods are treated as no operation instructions or otherwise ignored.
