  • Publication number: 20090017869
Abstract: A base station for a WCDMA telecommunications network, intended for use in indoor environment to enhance coverage and increase capacity. The base station is designed according to a modular concept, and includes a base station unit having an interface for connection to a power supply, a radio network contoller, and to an antenna, said base station unit having a sandwich structure comprising a rigid metal back plate, a rigid metal front plate, and a main circuit board attached intermediate said back plate and front plate, wherein said main circuit board is cooled by means of self-convection of said back plate and said front plate.

  • Patent number: 6735451
Abstract: Methods and base stations for controlling downlink power, especially in systems employing virtual cells, are described. By providing attenuators in each transmit signal processing chain, e.g., after upconverting to intermediate frequencies, downlink power control can be more finely tuned to different antenna elements.

  • Patent number: 6678509
Abstract: An apparatus for use in a receiver in a communication system in which signals cover a wide range of power levels. The apparatus provides reduced power consumption without sacrificing receiver sensitivity by using an amplifier having a fixed, relatively narrow dynamic range that can by selectively positioned to accommodate the wide range of power levels. The amplifier is placed earlier in the receiver signal processing chain than comparable amplifiers in conventional receivers.

  • Patent number: 6061704
Abstract: A method and apparatus in a radio telecommunications system for converting data from a first sample rate to a second sample rate such that the first and second sample rates are preferably within 10% of each other are disclosed. An input buffer receives a plurality of data groupings at a first sample rate. A spline filter utilizes the input data along with a phase difference between input and output data to calculate a third order spline function and an output time for the input data. This information is used to convert the input data at the first sample rate to output data at a second sample rate. The output data is buffered within an output buffer until transmitted to an associated base band unit.
