Abstract: In a management system comprising a manager connected to a number of agents a trap table is provided in the agent. Each trap transmitted from the agent to the manager is given an incremented number so that if the manager does not receive a trap, the manager knows which trap to request from the agent using an SNMP get-request message. The information of the trap message can then be fetched from the trap table in the agent and transmitted in a response message to the manager. A trap counter is also provided in the agent. The trap counter is set equal to the number of the last sent trap in connection with the sending of the trap.
