  • Publication number: 20090245397
Abstract: A communications device includes a signal input that receives an orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) communications signal. A demodulator is connected to the signal input for receiving the OFDM communications signal and demodulating the OFDM communication signal. It includes at least one memory element for storing the at least one sine/cosine basis waveform approximation as complex exponential functions. A logic circuit performs logical shifts in additions and multiples of ±2n and extracts amplitude and phase values from a plurality of N data subcarriers within the OFDN communications signal. The demodulator includes efficient implementation of the FFT for use as an OFDM demodulator where the complex exponentials are approximated by multi-level complex sinusoids and optionally oversampled to increase SNR of the FFT output.

  • Publication number: 20090057454
Abstract: A disc housing intended for refiners with refining discs rotating in opposed directions relative to each other is disclosed for mechanically disintegrating and working fibrous material. The disc housing surrounds the refining discs in an air-tight manner, and is provided with an outlet for the worked fibrous material. The inside of the disc housing alond its periphery is formed with a channel, which, as seen in the circumferential direction, has a continously increasing radius, which increases all the way to the outlet, which is located tangentially as a direct continuation of the channel.

  • Publication number: 20070242772
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for precorrecting a constant envelope input signal. A phase precorrection component generates a precorrected input signal by applying a phase precorrection to the input signal. The applied phase correction alters an associated phase of the input signal without applying amplitude modulation to the signal. A linear distortion source applies amplitude distortion and phase distortion to the precorrected input signal. The applied phase correction mitigates the phase distortion applied by the linear distortion source.

  • Publication number: 20060253511
Abstract: An RF broadcasting system is presented that employs sinusoidal wave generation with look-up tables. The system includes a base band signal generator that converts a received N bit digital base band signal into an N bit digital address based on the base band signal. A signal processor is included having a plurality of addressable look-up tables that provide sinusoidal wave generating data, each of the tables receiving the address and providing therefrom multi-bit wave generating data. The processor also includes multipliers and summer means all configured and arranged to perform the algorithm: Cos [a+b]=Cos [a]·Cos [b]?Sin [a]·Sin [b] or the algorithm: Sin [a+b]=Cos [b]·Sin [a]+Cos [a]·Sin [b] for use in the generation.

  • Publication number: 20060159193
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for synchronizing a plurality of transmitters in a distributed transmission system. A data source generates a digital signal. A central data processing component inserts synchronization data into the digital signal. The synchronization data includes a periodic reset signal. A plurality of radio frequency transmitters each comprises a Trellis coder. At least one Trellis coder state at each Trellis coder is reinitialized to a predefined default state in response to the reset signal.

  • Patent number: 6807474
Abstract: A method and a system in a vehicle to control the input torque to a drivetrain member (4) connected to an engine (2) is presented. The method comrises the steps of determining (101, 210) a value of the input torque (Ti) and determining (101, 210) the rotational speed (RPMi) of an input shaft (6) of the drivetrain member (4). A value of a first torque dependent function (Eoi) is calculated (105, 106, 206, 207), based on the rotational speed (RPMi), the value of the input torque (Ti) and a limit value of the input torque (TMax), the value of the input torque (Ti) exceeding the limit value of the input torque (TMax). If the value of the first torque dependent function (Eoi) exceeds a predetermined limit value of the first torque dependent function (EoMax), the input torque is reduced (109, 212).

  • Patent number: 6377116
Abstract: A method of deriving a pre-distorter for a corresponding non-linear amplifier is disclosed. The first step of the method is to form the pre-distorter's topology. This is done by first determining a corresponding inverse topology to the non-linear amplifier's topology. The non-linear amplifier has a topology comprising filter and non-linear amplifier elements. The inverse topology comprises corresponding inverse filter and amplifier elements to the amplifier's filter and non-linear amplifier elements. Then, those of the inverse filter and amplifier elements for which compensation with the pre-distorter is desired are selected. Any of the inverse filter and amplifier elements that were not selected are then removed from the inverse topology to form the pre-distorter's topology. Thus, the pre-distorter's topology comprises the selected inverse filter and amplifier elements.
