  • Publication number: 20100103875
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a mechanism for an improved network capacity when using fixed wireless terminal. The object is achieved by a method in a radio access network node for establishing at least two packet data tunnels for packet transmission, from a fixed wireless terminal in a local area network through a set of cells in a radio access network. The set of cells comprises at least two cells. The fixed wireless terminal is a radio access network node comprised in the radio access network. The radio access network comprises a plurality of potential cells to which the packet data tunnels may be established, whereof said set of cells are part of the potential cells.

  • Patent number: 7054318
Abstract: A method of indicating the length of a mini cells in a mobile telephony network. Non linear coding of a short fixed length field in the header of the mini cell is described. Either an extension bit method or an extension code method is used to extend the length field so as to increase the number of length values available for coding of the mini cell sizes. The length of a mini cell is indicated in the individual mini cell or is indicated indirectly using a CID/length mapping table. Mini cell sizes are changed during a connection and methods are described for doing this. Cell header reading devices for extracting user information of individual mini cells are described. A mobile telephone network using the cell header reading devices is described.

  • Patent number: 7016320
Abstract: In a mobile communication system (T1) a time interval selection means (TISM) in a network control means (RNC) determines a time interval and sends an indication about this time interval to a subscriber station (MS) in a time interval indication signal. A time interval signal determining means (TISDM) in the subscriber station (MS) detects the time interval and an IF measurement means (IFMM) carries out inter-frequency/inter-system measurements in the detected time interval specified by the network control means (RNC). In this time interval the temporary reduction of the quality of service QoS on the communication connection (CC) is planed by the network control means (RNC). However, independent as to whether a delay-sensitive or loss-sensitive data transmission is carried out, the network control means (RNC) can make provisions in order to compensate the temporary reduction of the quality of service.

  • Patent number: 6631116
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of changing the size of mini cells belonging to an individual connection during an ongoing connection. A control mini cell is used for this purpose. The control mini cell is transported either in a separate connection or in the same individual connection the mini cell size of which it shall change. Depending on system design the control mini cell is handled either at the control plane by the operation and maintenance system of the telecommunication network or is it handled at the traffic plane by transmission equipments.

  • Patent number: 6449290
Abstract: Methods and an arrangement for synchronizing communication of framed data via asynchronous base stations (BS1, BS2) in a cellular communication system are presented. The synchronization methods are performed continuously by sending out certain system frame counter states from a central node in the system to all its connected base stations (BS1, BS2). Each base station (BS1, BS2) includes a local frame counter (LFCBS1, LFCBS2), which generates local frame counter states (t1(1)-t1(4), t2(1)-t2(4)) correlated to the system frame counter states. Transmission of information via the base stations (BS1, BS2) is synchronized by assigning each data frame (DR(1)-DR(4)) a particular frame number, which is given by the local frame counter states (t1(1)-t1(4), t2(1)-t2(4)), so that data framed (DF(1)-DF(4)) having identical numbers contain copies of a certain data packet.
