  • Patent number: 7267146
Abstract: The invention relates to a chipper (1) bed knife (2) attached detachably to the chipper frame (3), the chipper (1) having a chipper disc (5) supported on its shaft (4), which shaft is fitted rotatably to the chipper frame (3), the chipper disc (5) comprising a number of knives (6) arranged to pass the knife edge (7) of the bed knife (2) at a distance corresponding to the required knife clearance (v), when the chipper disc (5) is rotating. The bed knife (2) also has a second knife edge (7?), the said knife edges (7, 7?) being arranged at a distance from each other in the direction of movement (A) of the chipper disc (5) knives (6). A groove (8) is formed in the bed knife (2) between the said knife edges (7, 7?).

  • Patent number: 6164350
Abstract: Method and apparatus for preventing or releasing a blockage occurring in a flow of tree trunks supplied to a wood chipper via a feed hopper and for securing an uninterrupted flow of timber to the chipper. At least one lifting arm is insertable to project through an opening defined in a hopper. The lifting arm is inserted to raise tree trunks wedged in the hopper and release blockages. The duration of the lifting arm insertion is controlled momentarily for limiting the amount of tree trunks supplied to the chipper.

  • Patent number: 6053223
Abstract: A tool wheel rotatably mounted in a disc chipper. The tool wheel includes a plurality of chip outlets. Each chip outlet comprises an elongated aperture extending through the tool wheel. At least one of the ends of the chip outlet is integrally made in the basic material of the tool wheel in a beveled fashion relative to the center axis of the tool wheel.

  • Patent number: 5346993
Abstract: The invention relates to large latent complexes of TGF-.beta.2 and TGF-.beta.3, and methods for isolating these. The complex consists of a dimerized form of TGF-.beta.2 or TGF-.beta.3, the appropriate latency associated peptide, and the latent TGF-.beta.1 binding protein, referred to as LTBP. Also described is a protein which binds to all of TGF-.beta.1, TGF-.beta.2 and TGF-.beta.3, but is immunologically distinct from LTBP, referred to as LTBP-2.

  • Patent number: 5236024
Abstract: A counter blade is disclosed for use in a chipping machine which comprises a chipper disc rotatably mounted in the chipper frame by means of a shaft supporting the disc. The counter blade is attached to the chipper frame essentially at the intersection of a blade mounted in the chipper disc and the log to be chipped, in such manner that, on the side opposite to the chipping blade, the counter blade rests against the log to be chipped. The counter blade consists of a first and a second blade part placed at an obtuse angle relative to each other. According to the present invention, the counter blade consists of two essentially elongated elements having an arris forming the cutting edge of the counter blade at least on one of its longitudinal sides. The end faces of the counter blade elements are so formed as to permit connection to an adjacent counter blade element so that two counter blades form a continuous cutting edge of the counter blade.

  • Patent number: 5177197
Abstract: Purified protein known as platelet TGF-.beta.1-BP (transforming growth factor-.beta.1-binding protein) is described. The protein is useful for purposes such as the production of antisera which are useful in identifying complexes containing the binding protein, as well as in formation of labeled probes. Also described are purified DNA which expresses the protein, as well as messenger RNA translated into the protein. The protein contains 16 epidermal growth factors (EGF) like repeats, and 3 repeats not found in other proteins. The DNA for the protein is found to contain consensus sequences for hydroxylation of asparagine/aspartic acid residues, and, in the purified protein beta hydroxylated asparagine residues were found.
