  • Patent number: 11851101
Abstract: The invention relates to a power assisting steering system for a vehicle having at least a first and a second steered wheel, the system comprising a control unit configured to receive input on a desired change of steering angle, a first and a second power generating device configured to provide power assisted steering for turning the first and the steered wheel, respectively. The control unit, in response to the received input, is configured to alternatingly activate and deactivate the first and second power generating device, respectively, so as to repeatedly and alternatingly provide power assistance to the first and the second steered wheel as the first and second steered wheels are turned to achieve the desired change of steering angle. The invention also relates to a method of operating a power assisting steering system.

  • Patent number: 11813913
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for determining a desired speed of a vehicle (1), preferably an autonomous vehicle. The vehicle comprises a shock absorber arrangement (2), preferably an hydraulic shock absorber arrangement, having an elastic hysteresis. The method comprises—obtaining (501) a reference value indicative of the energy dissipated by the shock absorber arrangement (2) in a reference driving condition of a vehicle and—determining (502) a speed of the vehicle for which the value indicative of the energy dissipated by the shock absorber arrangement (2) in a similar driving condition is expected to fall within a predetermined energy dissipation range, using said reference value.

  • Patent number: 11433731
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for determining a functional status of a vehicle shock absorber arrangement (100). The method determines a difference between force values during compression and expansion of the vehicle shock absorber arrangement (100), whereby the shock absorber arrangement (100) can be determined to be degraded if the difference is below a predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 8045259
Abstract: The invention relates to optical fibers for use in optical amplification of light, such as in optical fiber amplifiers and lasers and for use in delivery of high power light, in particular to a scheme for reducing amplified spontaneous emission at undesired wavelengths. The invention further relates to articles, methods and use. An object of the invention is achieved by a micro-structured optical fiber, which is adapted to guide light by the photonic bandgap effect and to have one or more pass bands and at least one stop-band over a wavelength range from ?stop1 to ?stop2. In an aspect of the invention, the at least one stop-band provides filter functions that suppress nonlinear effects.

  • Patent number: 6933903
Abstract: A device for receiving/transmitting electromagnetic signals from/to at least two satellites fixedly located at points at the geostationary path comprises an antenna, for example a lens (1) of waveguide nature. The antenna images remote points at a focal surface and in the points where the satellites are imaged receiver horns (23, 23?) are placed. The horns are adjustably mounted to a rail (21) of a mounting unit (9) except the central horn (23?) that is fixedly placed for receiving along the optical axis of the antenna, at a predetermined distance of the antenna. The rail is mounted to be rotated about the optical axis of the antenna, this giving a simple adjustment of the other horns (23). Using an adjusting assembly the curvature of the rail can be varied to be adapted to receiving at different latitudes.

  • Patent number: 6591698
Abstract: A surgical instrument (12) includes a tool for screwing in a surgical implant or for cutting a thread in human bone tissue with thread tap. Also included is a unit (2) for supplying power and controlling the speed of an electric motor included in the tool, for example a d.c. motor (1). Detection members (7, 8) transmit signals (i1), dependent on the torque of the tool, to display members which comprise a computer unit (9) with screen (10). Displayed on the screen is a curve which shows the torque in relation to the torsional angle position. A curve or curves displayed in this way form(s) the basis for assessing the quality of the implant or of the bone tissue.
