  • Patent number: 4961519
Abstract: A lime feeder includes a metering driving vessel divided into two chambers arranged below a water inlet so that, alternatively one and the other chamber is filled with water and tilts between two end positions. The tilting movement is conducted by a carrier bar fastened in the metering vessel, to carriers that, in turn, drive a disk back and forth. The disk, in turn, feeds lime from a lime hopper with a movement back and forth. The lime powder is thereby brought to fall into the chamber of the metering vessel that has already been emptied. In this way, the lime will be wetted so that when it arrives in the stream of water, it is already suspended, which results in a more efficient dissolving of the lime.

  • Patent number: 4798475
Abstract: A device for adding lime to acidulated flowing water including a feed hopper and an endless belt conveyor arranged below the feed hopper. The belt conveyor is driven via a one-way clutch of an arm that is, in turn, driven by a tilting movement of a vessel. The vessel is so journaled that when it has been filled with water to a certain level, it tilts forward, allowing the water to stream out of the vessel. At each tilting movement, a chain coupled to the arm drives the conveyor a distinct stretch forward. When the water has left the vessel, a counterweight makes it tilt upwards again, to be filled again. The water is delivered from the stream in proportion to the flow in the stream, for instance by means of a chute starting in a defined cross-section of the stream.

  • Patent number: 4428410
Abstract: A method of compressing at least one flat wooden element having knots therein to permanently increase the hardness of the wooden element. The method includes the steps of inserting an elastic material layer between a pair of spaced apart press plates which are moveable with respect to each other, the elastic material layer being softer than the wooden element. The wooden element is then interposed between the elastic material and one of the press plates, and the pair of press plates displaced toward each to a predetermined spacing thereby compressing the entire surface of the wooden element and elastic material layer, the thickness of the elastic material layer in the compressed state being at least one-half the thickness of the compressed wooden element. Portions of the knots in the wooden element are forced out of the element and into the elastic material layer without being broken to shivers by the pressure exerted thereon.
