  • Patent number: 6471835
Abstract: The invention relates to an electrode assemblage clamping device for an electrode comprising two parallel, essentially flat and rectangular electrode members, and at least one current supply rod/conductor bar, arranged between and in conductive contact with said electrode members. The device comprises a clamping means provided along at least a part of the vertical peripheral edges of said electrode elements, said clamping means comprising a resilient member and an abutment member. The latter are configured such that each electrode member is clamped between one respective part each of the abutment member and of the resilient member.

  • Patent number: 6007687
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a device for sealing a cover plate for an electrolytic cell. Prior-art cell constructions suffer from the problems of, inter alia, a short service life of certain materials and cracking in the materials which results in leakage, which makes it necessary to put the cell out of operation. The problem is solved by the present method of sealing a cover plate for an electrolytic cell, the cell having a base (2), in which risers (1) for the anodes of the cell are attached, the base consisting of at least one basic material with high thermal conductivity, preferably copper, and at least one cover plate (8) which is arranged on the basic material towards the inside of the cell, the riser having a sealing flange (6), to which the cover plate is connected, an additional plate being attached between riser and cover plate to act as a bellows (9; 20), said bellows being attached by welding (10; 11) to the sealing flange (6) of the riser and the cover plate (8), respectively.

  • Patent number: 5373134
Abstract: The invention relates to an electrode for electrolysis, whose front side comprises a plurality of substantially parallel channels (2) defined by substantially parallel threads (1) of electrically conducting material, which are attached to and in electric contact with the underlying electrode structure (10, 11, 12).Moreover, the invention relates to a method of producing an electrode, an electrolytic cell comprising an electrode according to the invention, and the use of such an electrode in electrolysis.

  • Patent number: 5338414
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrolytic cell (1) comprising an anodic end wall (6) and a cathodic end wall (5) facing each other and supporting alternately arranged plate-shaped anodes (8) and cathodes (10) extending substantially perpendicularly to said end walls. At least some of the anodes (8) and/or cathodes (10) cooperate with the opposite end wall (5,6) via electrically insulating spacer members (4), thus enabling compressive forces to be transmitted between the cell end walls (5,6). The invention also relates to an electrolyser comprising two or more cells (1) according to the invention. Further, the invention relates to a method of performing electrolyses.

  • Patent number: 5120904
Abstract: Electrode used for one pole in underwater transmission of high-voltage direct current, an insulated cable being used for the other pole, such electrodes being adapted to be stationary on the bottom of the sea to serve as the anode and the cathode, respectively, while the sea-water constitutes the electric conductor therebetween. What characterises the invention is that the electrode comprises at least one layer (1) of a flexible, electrically conductive material which preferably is resistant to chlorine-alkali, said layer (1) being enclosed between protective structures (2,3) of a flexible, mechanically resistant material which preferably is resistant to chlorine-alkali, at least one protective structure (2) having openings (4) which are positioned across the surface thereof and through which the sea-water comes into contact with the layer (1).

  • Patent number: 5114547
Abstract: An electrode for electrolysis comprisng an electrically conducting metal, the surface of which is embossed with at least one central, vertical circulation channel (2) and upwardly directed channels (1) in a herring-bone pattern, the upwardly directed channels (1) forming an angle of <90.degree. with a horizontal line in the plane of the electrode surface and communicating with the centrally positioned, vertically directed circulation channel (2). The circulation channel (2) may be provided with penetrating slits or holes (3). The electrode may be used for electrolysis in a membrane cell, for electrochemical recovery of metals, or for recovery of chlorine from sea-water. The electrode can be manufactured by embossing the surface through stamping with a die or through rolling with a figure roller.

  • Patent number: 4256586
Abstract: Filter frame (1), intended to be inserted in filter cloths of flexible materials shaped as bags, which bags during filtration are percolated by the treated fluid from the outside and inwards, the frame comprising two perforated and corrugated plates (2) placed against each other so that the ridges of one plate are in contact with the valleys of the other plate and linear contact between the plates is formed and between which lines and the surfaces of the plates channels for the filtrate are formed and an outlet (5) for collecting the filtrate, whereby the outlet opens out into one of the channels. The perforations are, in order to obtain a good flexibility and separating effect, formed as holes in a net of expanded metal.
