Abstract: A functional device is configured to communicate with one or more additional devices over a wireless communications link using wireless circuitry. The device includes a memory for storing information about different wireless characteristics in different geographic locations, a receiver for receiving information about the geographic location of the device, a memory for storing information about different wireless characteristics in different geographic locations, and a control element for retrieving information from the memory based on the geographic location of the device and configuring the wireless circuitry such that its wireless characteristics match the wireless characteristics retrieved from the memory appropriate for the geographic location.

Abstract: Arrangement and method for providing cruise control in an automotive vehicle that includes determination of a target value vtar, stating a desired velocity of the vehicle, determination of an actual value vact stating the current speed of the vehicle. Repeated calculation of an integrated control factor Ip(n) in dependence of the current difference between said actual value vact and said target value vtar, and generation of an output signal, &agr;, from a control unit 1 in dependence of the size of said control factor Ip(n). The output signal is utilized for controlling the vehicle engine 2 to a corresponding output torque. The integrated factor Ip(n) is limited to a maximum value, preselected in dependence of the current rotational speed (n) of said engine 2. The invention also relates to a device for cruise control.

Abstract: According to a method of preventing freezing in water piping there is arranged a non-return valve (3) upstream of the portion (1A) of the piping (1) which is to be protected, and a safety valve (4) downstream of this portion. The safety valve opens to allow the water to flow out and prevent freezing at a pressure increase of the water entrapped downstream of the non-return valve, the pressure increase occurring when the temperature falls from +4.degree. C. towards the freezing point. The invention also relates to a piping system for carrying out the method.

Abstract: A heat exchanging or circulation apparatus comprising a system of conduits connected to an inlet and an outlet for circulating water or other practically incompressible liquid through the system, heat being transferred through the conduit walls, circulation through the apparatus being periodically shut-off, whereupon continued heat transfer through the conduit walls causes freezing of the liquid to ice in the conduits.
