  • Patent number: 6681903
Abstract: A wheel hub for vehicles has a built-in brake assembly for stopping and parking the vehicle. A parking piston and a spring assembly of the parking brake are arranged within the ring gear support member, and impact on the brake piston of the multi-plate friction type wet brake, and the ring gear support member. The parking brake has a device for manually de-activating the parking brake from outside the hub. The device includes a screw that overrides spring pressure to move the parking piston away from the brake piston to manually release the parking brake.

  • Patent number: 6286620
Abstract: A differentially steered work vehicle is provided with a driving axle having a axle housing with an access opening. An access plate is secured to the access opening and is provided with steering components. The access plate is provided with a steering motor mount that passes through the access plate. A steering motor is mounted to the steering motor mount on the exterior side of the access plate. The interior side of the access plate is provided with a rotatable steering shaft having a first toothed end and a second toothed end. The first toothed end drives a first spur gear which is operatively coupled to the ring gear of a first planetary set. The second toothed end of the steering shaft is operatively coupled to a reverser gear that is also rotatably mounted to the interior side of the access plate. The reverser gear is mounted on a pin mounted to the interior side of the access plate.

  • Patent number: 6077183
Abstract: A differential lock-up assembly for vehicles with a differential gear set has a main drive housing,a driving pinion gear being rotatable in the main drive housing,a ring gear engaging the pinion gear, a planet carrier secured to the ring gear and rotatably supported in the main drive housing,a set of pinion gears journalled in the planet carrier and a set of bevel gears engaging the pinion gears and journalled in the planet carrier and engaged to output shafts of the differential gear set,and a lockout clutch assembly with a pack of interleaved discs locking the planet carrier to one of the output shafts on the impact of pressurized fluid with the intermediation of a piston and cylinder assembly.

  • Patent number: 5871413
Abstract: A driven axle assembly for vehicles has an axle housing with a main drive, wheel hub units fixed to both sides of the axle housing and being driven by a drive shaft with different rotational movements on both sides of the main drive, within each wheel hub unit, a planetary gearing and a multi-plate friction type wet brake both being coupled to the drive shaft as well as to a drive unit of the vehicle, wherein the multi-plate friction type wet brake is arranged within a ring gear support member, and around planetary gears of the planetary gearing a ring gear is connected to them. The improvement achieved by this invention is that a driving assembly is coupled to the ring gear of the planetary gearing of each and every wheel hub unit arranged on the driven axle whereas a difference between the rotational speeds of the ring gear within the wheel hub units, respectively, are proportional to a difference between the rotational speeds of the wheel hub units arranged on the driven axle of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5088967
Abstract: The planetary assembly with wet disk brake of the invention comprises a hollow spindle (3) rigidly fixed to an axle house (1) of a running gear of a vehicle, a hollow wheel hub (5) carrying a wheel (7), the wheel hub (5) being rotatably supported in a roller bearing (8, 9) mounted to the spindle (3), an input axle-shaft (4) passing through a bore made in the spindle (3), a hollow ring gear support member (11) arranged on the periphery of the spindle (3) secured against angular displacement and prepared with splines (3) arranged on its internal side, a planetary mechanism linked up with the input axle-shaft (4) on its input side and with the wheel hub (5) on its output side, and being fitted with a ring gear (32) coupled in torque transmitting way to the splines (13) of the ring gear support member (11), wet disk brake assembly (16) fully accommodated in the ring gear support member (11i) as a self-contained unit, where the wet disk brake assembly (16) is arranged so that the external splined disks (26) and th

  • Patent number: 4594913
Abstract: A double-acting differential having a differential case held together by coupling elements, a drive gear fixed to the case and within the case, output shafts, side gears, differential pinions, and a spider. It also has internally splined disks connected to the side gear, and externally splined disks connected to the case, and pressure springs arranged between the differential case and one of the side gears. A thrust plate is movable in axial direction and receives from one direction the axial force from the side gear and from the other side, through the splined disks, the reaction forces of the pressure springs. A lock ring limits axial movement of the thrust plate in case of a small torque, and a flange in the wall of the differential case supporting the splined disks, in case of a large torque.

  • Patent number: 4158971
Abstract: Two-stage power branching planetary transmission wheel drive having an inner planetary gear set and an outer planetary gear set. The inner planetary gear set has its planetary carrier loosely splined to a fixed support or hollow spindle of the wheel drive while its gear ring is splined to the gear ring of the outer planetary gear set the planetary carrier of which is, in turn, splined to the sun gear of the inner planetary gear set, roller type antifriction wheel bearings which journal the wheel hub of the assembly being both supported by the torque support or reaction element of the drive.
