  • Patent number: 6194374
Abstract: A biodegradable fabric softening composition or article is provided for softening laundry and is essentially free of a quaternary ammonium compound softener. The composition or article comprises a clay carrier, a defined polyphosphonate compound, and a defined PEC which is a fabric softening compound selected from among esters of pentaerythritol, oligomers of pentaerythritol or alkylene oxide derivatives of such esters and oligomers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 3, 2000
Date of Patent: February 27, 2001
    Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive Co.

  • Patent number: 5612309
Abstract: Anionic microemulsions of hydrophobic, normally liquid, oxygenated, long chain hydrocarbons have been found to provide nitrogen-free rinse cycle fabric softener compositions. Fatty acid esters of polyols, such as triglycerol diisostearate and sorbitan isostearate, are preferred softeners especially when microemulsified with an anionic surfactant, a cosurfactant and optionally a nonionic surfactant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 14, 1996
Date of Patent: March 18, 1997
    Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive Company

  • Patent number: 4842758
Abstract: A stabilized enzyme system containing a boron compound, an alpha-hydroxy carboxylic acid, casein and an enzyme is disclosed. The stabilized enzyme system can be used in built liquid aqueous anionic detergent compositions to provide effective proteolytic and amylolytic enzyme cleaning activity to the detergent compositions.

  • Patent number: 4461621
Abstract: An absorbent article comprising a backing sheet of fluid impervious material, a fluid pervious cover sheet, and a first pad adjacent the cover sheet comprising a loosely formed fibrous mass. A separate second pad may be positioned intermediate the first pad and the backing sheet, with the second pad comprising a mass of fibers having compressed regions extending throughout a substantial part of the second pad. A polymer coating in the target area extends at least most of the width of the pads and extends between the third and the sixth tenth of the length of the pads. The polymer may be present on the top surface of the first pad (i.e. surface adjacent cover (top) sheet) and/or between the first and second pad and/or on the bottom or back surface of the second pad. Where only one pad is used, the polymer may be present on both the top and bottom surfaces thereof.
