  • Patent number: 8950135
Abstract: A corner assembly for siding and roofing coverings includes two complementary corner molding members, each one of the two corner molding members having a front wall including a covering section with simulated building elements on an outer face thereof. Each one of the two corner molding members further has at least one protruding finger and at least one recess. The at least one protruding finger and at least one recess are configured in an alternate configuration in order to interlock in a male-female configuration when the two complementary corner molding members are engaged with one another to define a corner. A method covers a length of a corner defined at a junction of a first support surface and a second support surface.

  • Patent number: 8601858
Abstract: A method for testing a mechanical integrity of an insulating layer covering a conductor in a cable, a longitudinal void being defined inside the insulating layer in a region of the conductor. A first end of the insulating layer is blocked. A compressed gas is injected at a second end of the insulating layer so that the gas enters and travels the longitudinal void inside the insulating layer towards the first end. A gas pressure inside the insulating layer is measured at least near the second end. Injection of the compressed gas is stropped after a predetermined injection time period. A variation of the gas pressure inside the insulating layer is monitored during a diagnostic time window succeeding to a transitional time period following the stopping of the injection. Integrity of the insulating layer is determined based on the variation of the gas pressure during the diagnostic time window.

  • Patent number: 8209938
Abstract: A wall or roof covering for mounting on a support surface includes a plurality of panels securable to the support surface. Each panel has a front surface including a covering section with simulated building elements, an opposed rear surface facing the support surface when secured thereto, an upper marginal edge region and an opposed lower marginal edge region overlying the upper marginal edge region of a vertically-adjacent panel. One of the upper marginal edge region and the lower marginal edge region has an inclined receiving slot defined therein, the other one of the upper marginal edge region and the lower marginal edge region has an inclined insertable flange engageable in the inclined receiving slot of the vertically-adjacent panel.

  • Patent number: 8033064
Abstract: A polymer building product for securement to the exterior of a building, the building product comprising a base portion securable to a substrate; a top portion slidingly telescopingly receivable over the base portion; and engaging elements, such as teeth, interengaging projections, etc. disposed on one or both of the base and top portions for securing the base and top portions together. The building product is characterized by a first, unsecured condition in which the top portion is slidingly received over the base portion in a first rotational orientation relative to the base portion and the top and base portions are freely slidingly separable, and a second, secured condition in which the top portion is slidingly received over the base portion in a second rotational orientation relative to the base portion and the top and base portions are secured together.
