  • Publication number: 20240123803
Abstract: An encapsulated fixed window module for a motor vehicle includes a fixed window pane, a first division post profile defining a longitudinal groove configured to receive a guide carried by a movable window pane, and having an exterior wall facing a fixed pane interior surface. An over-molded material secures the first division post profile to the fixed window pane, the over-molded material includes a first over-molded portion extending between the division post exterior wall and the fixed pane interior surface and a second over-molded portion extending between the lateral wall and the interior surface. The first over-molded portion has a first thickness which is constant along a major portion of the first over-molded portion. The second over-molded portion has a second thickness which is constant along a major portion of the second portion due to a co-extruded feature on the first division post profile.

  • Patent number: 11338659
Abstract: Methods of making a weather strip and bright strip assembly for a vehicle door include extruding a weather strip that has a longitudinal shape along an X axis, a sealing body made of at least a first material, and a carrier body made of at least a second material that is harder than the first material. The methods further include cutting at least in part a longitudinal end of the carrier body along the X axis, and removing the longitudinal end; molding a curved or angled end onto the weather strip, in replacement of the longitudinal end, wherein the curved or angled end extends between the X axis and a Y axis; and mounting a bright strip onto the carrier body, the bright strip including a first curved or angled portion covering at least in part the curved or angled end and a second longitudinal portion covering at least in part the carrier body.

  • Patent number: 11059360
Abstract: An encapsulated fixed window module for a motor vehicle, includes: a fixed window pane having a peripheral edge extending between exterior and interior surfaces; and a trim strip extending along at least a portion of the peripheral edge, the trim strip including a first longitudinal profile of U-shaped cross section. The first profile defines a longitudinal groove configured to receive a guide carried by a movable window pan. The exterior wall of the first profile faces the interior surface and is secured thereto by an over-molded material which does not cover the peripheral edge along the first profile. The exterior wall has a longitudinal edge which is opposite to the lateral wall and which is substantially aligned with the peripheral edge in a plane that is perpendicular to the fixed window pane.

  • Publication number: 20200086727
Abstract: An encapsulated fixed window module for a motor vehicle, comprising: a fixed window pane having an exterior surface, an interior surface, and a peripheral edge extending between the exterior and interior surfaces; at least one trim strip extending along at least a portion of the peripheral edge, the trim strip comprising a first longitudinal profile which is U-shaped in cross section and which has an exterior wall, an interior wall, and a lateral wall connecting the exterior and interior walls, the first profile defining a longitudinal groove configured to receive a guiding mean carried by a movable window pane, wherein the exterior wall of the first profile faces the interior surface and is secured thereto by an over-molded material which does not cover the peripheral edge along the first profile, and wherein the exterior wall has a longitudinal edge which is opposite to the lateral wall and which is substantially aligned with the peripheral edge in a plane that is perpendicular to the fixed window pane.

  • Publication number: 20130093141
Abstract: The invention provides a weather strip seal for an automotive vehicle which is provided for sealing between a first structure and a second structure made of a vehicle framework having a flange protruding from an adjacent framework surface, and to a method for manufacturing such a strip seal. The weather strip seal includes a clamping means for clamping on the flange comprising an outer clamping portion having a first branch and a second branch and an inner clamping portion incorporating separate gripping clips mounted along the length of and against said outer clamping portion by an outer part of each clip, and in contact with the flange by inner gripping means of each clip, a first sealing portion sealingly presses against said first structure and which extends from said first branch, and a second sealing portion presses against said adjacent framework surface and extending on said second branch.

  • Publication number: 20110109009
Abstract: A method of forming a division post assembly for guiding a moveable window panel in a motor vehicle comprises: forming a body portion free of structural metal and coextruding at least one sealing wing with the body portion to form a coextruded assembly. The body portion comprises a first material and has a generally U-shaped cross-section including a base and first and second opposing walls defining a channel configured to receive at least an edge of the moveable window panel. The sealing wing projects into the channel and comprises a second material different than the first material. The body portion and the coextruded assembly exhibit sufficient flexibility for hand manipulation into a curved shape having a first radius of curvature that is substantially the same as a second radius of curvature of a mold cavity of a mold into which the coextruded assembly is configured for placement.

  • Publication number: 20080238134
Abstract: An improved division post is provided that eliminates the need for a metal carrier for support, eliminates the need for roll form tooling and stretch bend tooling which are expensive and time-consuming processes, and may be formed in a glass encapsulation mold and retain the curvature imparted by the mold. The improved division post may guide a window panel moveable along a first axis in a motor vehicle. The division post may comprise a body portion comprising a first material and having a generally U-shaped cross-section. The body portion may include a base and first and second opposing walls defining a channel. The channel may be configured to receive at least an edge of the window panel. The division post may further include a first sealing wing extending from the first wall into the channel and a second sealing wing extending from the second wall into the channel. The first and second sealing wings may comprise a second material that is different than the first material.
