Abstract: A method is provided for carrying out a reading and/or writing process, using a first actively operated medium, from or on a passively operated second medium wherein the first medium has a secured environment. The method includes providing a reading and/or writing applet in the secured environment, providing an application outside of the secured environment, transmitting a reading and/or writing command to the applet using the application, converting the reading and/or writing command into a reading and/or writing signal using the applet, and transmitting the reading and/or writing signal to the passively operated second medium.
