Abstract: A quick release band clamp having a mounting bracket attached to one end of a flexible band. The mounting bracket has a pair of side support members straddling the flexible band. A pivoting bracket is pivotably supported between the pair of side support members by a pair of transverse trunnions and is pivotable between a closed position and an opened position. A worm screw is rotatably supported by the pivoting bracket at a location intermediate the trunnions and the band clamp. The free end of the band clamp is receivable between the mounting bracket and the pivoting bracket. The helical threads of the worm screw engage the teeth provided on the free end of the flexible band when the pivoting bracket is rotated to the closed position. In this position, the flexible band may be advanced through the mounting bracket by the rotation of the worm screw to tighten the flexible band about an object.

Abstract: The invention relates to compositions useful for prolonging the action and increasing the selectivity of herbicide compositions containing .alpha.-chloroacetamide derivatives as active ingredient as well as to highly selective herbicide compositions containing .alpha.-chloroacetamide derivatives as active ingredients and optionally an antidote wherein an animal derivative of the general formula (III) is used for achieving the prolonged action and increased selectivity. In the formula (III) ##STR1## R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 stand independently for hydrogen, a C.sub.1-6 alkyl, C.sub.3-7 cycloalkyl or C.sub.2-5 alkenyl group optionally substituted by a C.sub.1-4 alkyl group; andR.sub.9 stands for hydrogen or a C.sub.1-4 alkyl group optionally substituted by halogen, or a phenyl group.

Abstract: The invention relates to a synergistic fungicidal composition containing more active ingredients comprising 2,3-dihydroxy-6-methyl-5-phenylcarbamoyl-1,4-oxathiine or 2.3-dihydro-6-methyl-5-phenylcarbamoyl-1,4-oxathiine-4,4-dioxide and the zinc and manganese complexes of (8-oxyquinolinate)-(dimethyl dithiocarbamate) as active ingredients, optionally solid and/or liquid carriers and other excipients. The compositions is of value especially in the treatment of infections caused by ustilaginales and yellow rust on cereals.

Abstract: An apparatus for separating a slurry into phases containing larger and smaller grains has an upright tank in which a plurality of downwardly extending inlet pipes open at their lower ends between outlets for the coarse and fine phases located at the bottom and top of the tank, respectively. At the lower end of each inlet pipe, an upwardly widening frustoconical cup is provided with a bottom confronting the open end of the inlet pipe to deflect the slurry upwardly and outwardly. Within the cup swirl vanes impart a swirl to the slurry.

Abstract: The invention serves for conditioning and sterilization of sludges originating from sewage treatment plants, and from water preparing plants, respectively, in such a manner, that both the homogenization and the mixing with coagulating agent of the sludge as well as the flotation separation of solid phase are carried out by ultrasonic treatment, while the microorganisms, among them also the pathogene ones, are decomposed. The conditioning agent added in the final phase of the ultrasonic treatment of a few minutes is metallic salt in case of biological sludges, and polyeletrolyte in case of sludges containing chemicals.
