  • Publication number: 20020000700
Abstract: A disposable shopping cart sheath and method of using the same. The sheath comprises a sheet of plastic material, such as polyethylene, which is manually wrapped radially about the handle of a conventional shopping cart. According to a first preferred embodiment, the sheath is formed to have a generally triangular shape with an elongate slit formed in generally parallel relation along a respective side thereof, and opposite a respective corner or point of the triangular member. Such corner or point of the triangular member is insertable through the slit to thus enable the sheath to radially wrap about the handle member. In a second alternative embodiment, the sheath comprises a generally rectangular sheet of plastic material that is designed to cling to the handle as well as itself to thus stay wrapped about the handle during use. Following use, the sheaths are simply disposed of and may be recycled.

  • Patent number: 6319156
Abstract: A biodegradable golf tee having fertilizer properties and method of making the same. According to a preferred embodiment, the golf tee comprises the combination of bentonite, potassium nitrate, and sodium nitrate that are formed into the configuration of a conventional golf tee. Optionally, sodium nitrate, sand, or a pigment, such as chromium (III) oxide, may further be added. The golf tee is specifically designed to degrade when contacted with water or atmospheric air having a humidity of at least 20% or higher. The biodegradable golf tee may further be modified to include soil modifying agents, such as gypsum, as well as grass seed. The invention further comprises methods for forming the biodegradable golf tees of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 6089236
Abstract: A cigar holder for controlling the burn rate thereof. According to a preferred embodiment, the invention comprises the combination of a housing member having an upwardly extending port formed thereon and a cigar holder member interconnectable therewith. The housing member is designed and configured to be positioned within an ashtray and has formed thereon at least one aperture for providing oxygen to a lit cigar received therewithin. The cigar holder member is designed to nest within the port formed on the base, and has formed thereon at least one aperture that is designed and configured to align with the aperture formed upon the base member. In use, the respective apertures formed upon the housing and cigar holder members may be selectively aligned with one another to define a resultant vent aperture of variable size which selectively controls the amount of air that can access the cigar to thus cause the cigar to burn at a controlled rate.
