    Abstract: Method and router supporting tracing of a packet therein. A first service module receives the packet and a memory module stores a tracing extension header. The extension header comprises an identifier of a receiving service module and a tracing identifier associated with the packet. The extension is stored following reception of the packet by the first service module. Optionally, the receiving module may be the first service module that further receives the packet through a network interface module. The first service module may also generate the tracing identifier associated with the packet that uniquely identifies the tracing in the receiving module. The router may comprise a second service module and a second memory module associated thereto. The first service module may further append the tracing extension header to the packet and forwards the packet to the second service module. The second memory module may then store the extension header thereupon.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a fleet security system comprising a vehicle security unit (VSU) to be installed inside each vehicle, on the sun visor or on the dashboard of the vehicle, and connected to the vehicle using the On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) connector of the vehicle. An authorized user holds the key of the vehicle to be used and an electronic security key. When the authorized user opens the door of the vehicle, the VSU detects a disturbance in the vehicle and wirelessly sends a disturbance event message to a fleet master unit. The authorized user then has a given deactivation time period (such as thirteen seconds) to show its security key to a key reader located inside the vehicle, on the VSU. The security key code is validated by the master unit which will command the VSU to disarm its disturbance detection.

    Abstract: A method for maintaining a current view of a cluster's membership comprising the steps of maintaining a list of member nodes and updating the list when a modification thereto is noticed by a first node by receiving a first update message from the first node in a second node, thereafter, sending a second update message from the second node to a third node to propagate the modification and sending to the first node a first confirm message from the second or the third node. A node member of a cluster capable of maintaining a first list of neighboring nodes, maintaining a second list of neighboring nodes sharing a current view therewith and ensuring that the first list matches the second by exchanging messages with neighboring nodes, wherein each message comprises topology information. Upon confirmation that both lists match, the node being capable of sending a confirmation message toward neighboring nodes.

    Abstract: A method and a distributor are provided for ensuring efficient and expandable distribution of signals in a network. Distribution rules are defined by configuration in a distributor. A rule comprises one or more patterns used to attempt finding a match with a signal content. A result of a match attempt in a rule may lead to a destination for the signal content or to another rule. Rules are assembled hierarchically to form a decision tree. A network of distributors may be used instead of a single distributor. Functional units use distributors to exchange signals content. A configuration of the decision tree can be modified without impacting ongoing signal distribution. Functional units can be added, split or otherwise reorganized without having to cater for signal distribution modifications.

    Abstract: A method, system and Edge Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) Relay/Server for handling MMS messages in an MMS system, wherein incoming MMS messages are received at the Edge MMS Relay/Server from User Agents (UAs). The former determines criteria associated with the MMS messages and based on the criteria, selectively forwards the MMS messages to the proper MMS Relay/Server of a second stage of the MMS system, where the MMS messages are handled based on their type, and further delivered to the MMS recipients. Such criteria may include the retrieval time of the messages, the type of subscription of the user (prepaid vs postpaid), the need for transcoding the MMS message, and immediate vs future delivery time.

    Abstract: An interfacing method and Virtual Internet Protocol (VIP) Framework that provides high fault tolerance and linear scalability of servers and network interfaces. The Framework has minimal impact on the surrounding network infrastructure. The preferred embodiment operates at the IP level, thus enabling the Framework to operate with any application that runs on top of IP. Incoming data packets and packet fragments are received from the Internet in a plurality of network terminations. Routing processes provide external routers with addresses of the network terminations. Each network termination is associated with one of a plurality of forwarding processes, and each forwarding process is connected to a plurality of fragmenter/de-fragmenters. Each forwarding process selects a single fragmenter/de-fragmenter to receive all of the incoming data packets and packet fragments having a common source address.

    Abstract: A method and system for neighbor cell list creation and verification in a telecommunications system is provided. Over a period of time measurements are performed on signals transmitted and received on measurement channels of cells neighboring the cell for which a neighbor cell list is being created. The results of the signal measurements are used to create an ordered list of the measurement channels on which the measurements were done. A neighbor cell list containing a desired number of cells is then created by placing a certain number of cells having the most interfered measurement channels in the neighbor cell list. The invention also presents a method and system for verifying an existing neighbor cell list. In the method and system measurements are performed on measurement channels of neighbor cells over a period of time. Periodically the measurement results are checked to determine if cells should be added to or deleted from the existing neighbor cell list.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for adaptively reconfiguring a neighbor cell list. For a selected cell of a cellular system, data associated with the selected cell and each of a plurality of neighboring base stations is collected. The collected data includes data on events indicative of the quality of handoffs from the selected cell to each of the neighboring base stations. The collected data also includes signal level measurements made on measurement channels of the neighboring base stations. A plurality of quality values, each associated with the selected cell and one of the neighboring cells, are then determined from the collected data. A neighbor cell list is then generated for the selected cell by determining the highest quality values, and placing the handoff measurement channels of the neighboring cells associated with the highest quality values in the neighbor cell list.

The system enables one or more Home areas to be designated for each subscriber. The Home areas may vary in size, and the system is capable of applying a different set of service parameters inside an area and outside the area. Each Home area is defined by designating the latitude and longitude coordinates, and the altitude of a subscriber's home location, as well as the radius of the Home area from the home location. A system operator may designate one of several alternate radii by entering the coordinates of the center of the area at various levels of precision, each of which corresponds to a different Home area radius.
