  • Patent number: 8479723
Abstract: A fireplace assembly is disclosed and includes a smoke chamber, a firebox, a throat in fluid communication with and linking the smoke chamber and the insulated firebox and a divider positioned within said throat and defining a front air channel and a rear air channel within the throat. The fireplace assembly of the present invention offers reductions in particulate emissions when compared to traditional open-burning fireplaces and has comparable particulate emissions to wood stoves and built-in wood stoves.

Date of Patent: July 9, 2013
Assignee: I.C.C. Compagnie de Cheminees Industrielles Inc.

  • Publication number: 20070221195
Abstract: A pipe coupling for components of a venting system comprising a male pipe member on an end of a first component and a female pipe member on a corresponding end of a second component. The male pipe member comprises an inner flue pipe having a compressible gasket surrounding the inner flue pipe proximate an external end of the inner flue pipe, an external venting pipe surrounding the inner flue pipe and brackets linking the inner flue pipe to the external venting pipe. The female pipe member receives the male pipe member and comprises an inner flue sleeve being sized larger than the outer diameter of the flue pipe at an outer end of the sleeve. The inner flue sleeve remains in circumferential contact with the compressible gasket when the male pipe member is inserted into the female pipe member.

  • Publication number: 20060249142
Abstract: A leak proof coupling is accomplished by the combination of the spreading of an end of a pipe and by the insertion of a silicone gasket over the female side of each pipe section. When the sections are put together, the gasket lip is deflected downward to a predetermined amount established by the dimensions of the joint. This deflection generates the compression required to seals the gap between the male and female sides of the coupling. Because of the choice of thickness of the gasket material in combination with the inside and outside diameter of the gasket, assembly of different components of the venting system with each other is facilitated without using special tools or fixtures. Disassembly of the same components for routine maintenance is also easier to accomplish with this coupling design.

  • Patent number: 7114301
Abstract: Disclosed is a flashing for weatherproofing an aperture made in an inclined roof to allow passage of a vertical member such as chimney through the inclined roof. This flashing has a base member adapted to be mounted over the aperture and a surrounding member that is tubular in shape and extends upwardly from the base member to fit around the vertical member. The base member comprises a covering panel of quadrilateral shape having a top edge adapted to be positioned on an upper part of the inclined roof, a bottom edge adapted to be positioned on a lower part of the inclined roof, two opposite side edges and an opening large enough to allow passage of the vertical member therethrough. A bottom side wall projects downwardly from the bottom edge of the covering panel and two lateral side walls respectively extend downwardly from the opposite side edges of the covering panel and sidewardly from the bottom side wall in a tapering fashion.

  • Publication number: 20050204648
Abstract: Disclosed is a flashing for weatherproofing an aperture made in a roof to allow passage of a chimney through the roof. The flashing has a malleable base member adapted to be mounted over the aperture made in the roof and on a surface of the roof surrounding the aperture and to match the shape of roof surface. The base member comprises a panel having edges adapted to be positioned on the roof and an opening large enough to allow passage of the chimney therethrough. The flashing also comprises a surrounding member being tubular in shape and extending upwardly from the base member to fit around the chimney. The bottom and surrounding structures are linked through a joining ring structure encircling a bottom opening of the surrounding member.
