  • Patent number: 6392990
Abstract: A method and system for recovering transparently from a network interface failure. The method is to be run in a computing device on a network with multiple peer computing devices, having redundant network interfaces connected with redundant cables. The method transparently recovers from network failures by first establishing an address list of the peer computing devices on the subnet. The computing device then periodically tests the communication link with one or more of the peer computing devices until at least one peer device responds thereby sending its network address. The computing device then uses the peer network address to retest the communication link with the peer device until the peer device does not respond. If there is no response, the computing device reassigns the network address of the computing device from the primary network interface to the redundant network interface.

Abstract: A spiral for interconnecting ends of endless belt segments with terminal fabric loops using a pintle. The spiral comprises a series of loops having inverted U-shaped loop portions extending in a transverse direction of the spiral. The loop portions have legs spaced apart from each other for passage of the pintle therebetween, and uppermost heads bending from and extending between the legs. U-shaped loop linking portions extend diagonally with respect to a longitudinal direction of the spiral, between lower ends of the legs of successive loops. The loop portions are parallel with and spaced from one another by a definite pitch distance matching with the fabric loops and adapted to define openings for interdigitation with a like spiral to form a channel for the pintle without longitudinal deformation of the spirals during the interdigitation.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an anti-adhesion treatment process by continuous coating of a strip of paper, this coating comprising a silicone composition based on polyorganosiloxanes (POSs) of FC/LTC type. According to this process, a POS A, a crosslinking agent B (hydrosilylation and/or dehydrogenopolycondensation), a catalyst C and, optionally, an inhibitor D, an adhesion modifier E and other compounds F are used. These constituents A to F are mixed continuously and in metered amounts, selecting mixing conditions such that the bath lifetime BLT is <10 h, such that the bath homogeneity is such that its DSC signature comprises a Gaussian peak (FIG. 2), and such that the flow rate of production of the homogeneous mixture A to F is such that the duration d separating the placing together of the components A, B and C and the time of application of the composition to the traveling support strip is less than or equal to the BLT.

  • Patent number: 6386237
Abstract: The useful life of an abrasive material transport hose (10) can be maximized if the hose is repositioned at the first signs of internal wear. This is accomplished by disposing at least two wear sensing elements (17, 21), each at a specified distance from the inwardmost surface of the inner tube (12), and each monitoring a condition indicative of wear of the hose (10) at its specified distance from the inwardmost surface of the inner tube. When the innermost wear sensing element (17) implies wear, the hose can be repositioned to extend the useful life until the outermost wear sensing element (21) indicates wear requiring replacement of the hose.
