  • Publication number: 20060071478
Abstract: A multipoint sliding door latch including a housing, a pair of vertically spaced upper and lower hooks mounted in the housing for movement between a retracted, unlatched position within the housing and an extended, latched position extending out of the housing for engagement with a keeper structure of an associated jamb, upper and lower rotary actuators mounted in the housing in vertically spaced side by side relation between the upper and lower hooks, an upper link mechanism interconnecting the upper actuator and the upper hook and operative in response to rotary movement of the upper actuator to move the upper link from an unlatched to a latched position, and a lower link mechanism interconnecting the lower actuator and the lower hook and operative in response to rotary movement of lower actuator to move the lower hook from an unlatched position to a latched position. The latch further includes a rack positioned between the actuators and defining gear teeth on opposite parallel faces thereof.

  • Patent number: 6981724
Abstract: A multi-point latch assembly having a locking unit operably positioned in a closure member such as a door or window. The latch unit has a pair of latches with slots formed therein permitting the latches to simultaneously slide and pivotally engage a stationary pin. A keeper unit is operably positioned in a stationary member such as a door jam in a wall or a window sash. The keeper unit has a pair of pivotally movable hooks for selectively engaging the pair of latches in the latch unit. The latch unit has an actuator unit located internal to the latch unit for causing the hooks and latches to engage one another. The closure member is prevented from moving relative to the stationary member without first disengaging the hooks and latches from one another. The multi-point latch assembly has a stop rod located in the keeper unit. A release button located on the latch unit engages the stop rod when the closure member is closed.

  • Publication number: 20050034271
Abstract: A reversible handle assembly including a non-symmetrically shaped handle. The reversible handle is positionable in either the left hand or the right hand configuration and can be attached with spacer posts to either an escutcheon plate or to the surface of a door. The spacer post height can vary allowing adjustable profile heights.

  • Publication number: 20040205936
Abstract: An escutcheon plate assembly including a pair of opposing escutcheon plates operably connected to an inside portion and an outside portion respectively of a door. The escutcheon plates each have an inner surface, an outer surface and elongate pocket formed by a raised edge protruding around the perimeter of the plates. A stiffening insert is positioned in the pocket adjacent the inner surface of each plate. The stiffening insert is operably associated with the escutcheon plates for providing lightweight structural support. A thumb-turn having an adjustable telescoping tail located adjacent the inside plate is provided for connecting to a locking mechanism in a door. The adjustable tail can be extended and contracted for use with various types of doors having varying thicknesses.
