    Abstract: Generation of an engineering change case is initiated by associating an identified problem for a product with an engineering change case template. The engineering change case can include a plurality of structured folders that can be populated with content characterizing the identified problem as well as proposed solutions to the identified problem with each folder being assignable to one or more users and having associated deliverables for such users. The various users populate the folders with content associated with the deliverables with at least a portion of the deliverables being delegable and requiring completion in a sequential order. Thereafter, generation of the engineering case can be finalized when an indication is received that all deliverables requiring approval have been completed. Otherwise, the engineering change case can be canceled. Related apparatus, systems, techniques and articles are also described.

For example, a method according to one embodiment of the invention comprises: receiving an indication of a new sales order having associated therewith a desired quantity and a desired delivery date; determining whether the desired quantity can be promised by the desired delivery date based on current receipts; and generating a fixed pegging relationship between the new sales order and receipts identified to satisfy the sales order if the desired quantity can be promised by the desired date.

    Abstract: A method for providing a planning framework for use in managing a material flow of products in a supply chain. According to the method, subsequent instances of said material flow are associated with linked documents in a document flow. In a prior document, first relations are established identifying one or more dependent documents, for producing one or more products in a next instance of said material flow. Said prior document is converted into said next document in a forward way. According to the invention, the method comprises establishing in said next document the first relations identifying said one or more dependent documents, so as to convert said next document into said prior document in a reverse way. In this way, fixed relations can be preserved between product requirements and products while changing the material flow.
