  • Publication number: 20030038265
Abstract: Disclosed is a slide valve suitable for very high temperature service, such as extremely high temperatures (2200° F. and higher), having a metal shell and a liner of refractory material, has ceramic internals and a wedging system including wedge means for wedging the slide valve against the orifice plate and seating around its orifice and wedge means for wedging the guides against the downstream side of the orifice plate thereby stabilizing the internals against movement due to thermal expansion and contraction. The slide valve is also desirable for use under lower temperatures as its wedge system firmly wedges the disc into stable sealing engagement with the orifice plate and closing the orifice under conditions of flow. Depending on the conditions of use, either one or a combination of the wedge means may be used.

  • Patent number: 6109590
Abstract: Disclosed is a control slide valve for control of product flow through it in which the valve internals are maintained in position by the clamping action of a split clamp and may be released and removed and replaced through the bonnet quickly and easily by release and reclamping the split clamp rather than by utilizing bolts which often gall, break, and are difficult to remove and replace. The slide valve is particularly suited for high temperature abrasive flow.

  • Patent number: 4642611
Abstract: A sound engine comprising a firing chamber, an output horn, an igniter, a valve system, an electromagnetic control device, and a source of electrical signal impulses. The igniter is mounted about the firing chamber. The valve system is arranged generally adjacent the firing chamber for permitting the controlled separate introduction of fuel and air into the firing chamber. The valve means comprises a source of fuel, a source of air, a fuel shuttle valve, and an air valve. The fuel shuttle valve and the air valve are integrally connected. The electromagnetic control device is connected to the valving system for causing movement of the valving system in response to electrical signal impulses. The electromagnetic control device includes voice coils, magnetic field windings, and a housing. An output area occurs relative to the firing chamber to permit sound output from the firing chamber. The output area includes suitable mounting flanges for attaching horns thereabout.
