  • Patent number: 5632511
Abstract: An identification card-carrier combination is produced in a simple yet effective manner so that first and second cards are disposed side-by-side but are not directly connected to each other though positively positioned with respect to each other on a top face of the carrier, and readily releasable from the carrier. The combination includes a paper substrate having first length and width dimensions and a top face, the first and second identification cards disposed side-by-side and immediately adjacent to each other (e.g. abutting each other) and having a predetermined position with respect to each other, but unconnected directly to each other (the identification cards collectively have second width and length dimensions much less than the first dimensions), and an adhesive substrate common to the cards affixing the cards to the substrate web top face to hold the cards to the substrate web during printing and mailing while allowing removal of the cards from the substrate without damage to the cards.

  • Patent number: 5601682
Abstract: A method of making reflective decals, such as for use on automobile license plates, allows one to utilize conventional reflective face stock, yet in a mechanized and efficient manner affix a decal to a carrier for mailing. A standard web of reflective face stock, adhesive, and first liner is coated with a second adhesive layer (on the first liner) and a second liner is applied. The web is printed and dried, as with UV ink and by UV drying. Sequential numbers can be applied by printing, as can an expiration year, etc. The web is then die cut to separate a matrix containing reflective stock, first adhesive, first liner, and second adhesive, from surrounding printed decals, the decals spaced from each other and connected by the second liner (e.g., 1.5 mil silicone coated polyester).

  • Patent number: 5427832
Abstract: A card carrier for transport of a phone card, credit card, debit card, etc. is of paper or plastic card stock with a multi-colored design ion deposition printed on one face and a PIN and control number on the other. During production the card is part of a blow on label, attached to the rest of the label by repositional adhesive, and the blow on label is blown onto a first opaque paper carrier web inner surface, permanent adhesive affixing the label to that surface. The outer surface of the first carrier web is imaged just like the front of the card, simulating the card. A second opaque paper ply is affixed by permanent adhesive to the first ply overlying the second face of the card, but with a cutout aligned with the control number so that the control number may be viewed from exterior of the carrier. To open the carrier perforations are provided inside a permanent adhesive strip along one edge of the card, providing a tamperproof feature, i.e.

  • Patent number: 5362106
Abstract: The self-sealing card assembly comprises an intermediate plastic substrate having upper and lower clear polyethylene layers and an intermediate polyurethane layer therebetween, permanent pressure-sensitive adhesive applied to the faces of the polyethylene layers, a release liner overlying approximately one-half of the upper adhesive and an ID card overlying the remaining half of the adhesive. The lower adhesive layer adheres the card assembly to a carrier sheet whereby the card assembly and carrier sheet may form a mailer. The recipient completes the information requested on the ID card, peels the upper three layers from the carrier sheet by separating the upper polyethylene layer from the polyurethane layer, removes the upper half of the release liner and folds the clear polyethylene layer onto the upper surface of the ID card to form the laminated card. To manufacture the assembly, the plastic substrate is passed through adhesive applicators and release liners are adhered to its opposite sides.

  • Patent number: 5334431
Abstract: An assembly of a web substrate, and pluralities of release liners having static cling labels provides a scheme for dispensing static cling labels. The web substrate may be a roll having a surface release coating. The release liners have on one side an adhesive for releasably adhering to the release coating of the web substrate. Static cling labels adhere to the side of each release liner opposite to the adhesive. A release liner with static cling label is removed together from the web substrate. The removed release liner and static cling label are transported to an application surface. At the application surface, the static cling label is removed from the release liner and applied to the surface.

  • Patent number: 5267899
Abstract: A specially constructed label is useful for application of a first face of the label to the inside face of a transparent pane so that it is visible from the outside face, and which label may have indicia applied to its first face. The label first face has self-imaging material, and it is covered by a transparent release liner, with laminating adhesive between the release liner and the label first face. Writing applied to the release liner will be transferred to the first face. The label is preferably part of a business form having a paper sheet attached by adhesive at an overlap area between the paper sheet and the label. Perforations allow ready detachment of the label from the paper sheet.
