  • Patent number: 5976656
Abstract: The damper coating for shocks produced by a collision, or impacts produced by a shockwave, contains at least one layer of a crushing material (2) intended to cover a surface to be protected, the external layer of the crushing material (2) being, according to the present invention, covered by a skin (4) capable of providing a widening of the area affected by the shock or impact. The skin (4) contains, in particular, several layers (5.sub.1 ; 5.sub.2 ; 5.sub.3) of scales (6.sub.1 ; 6.sub.2 ; 6.sub.3), the scales of one layer being offset in staggered rows with respect to the scales of the following layer and being separated from the neighbouring scales of the same layer or capable of being separated from the latter on the application of the shock or impact. The structure of this damper coating is designed to dampen the impact under a reduced thickness.

  • Patent number: 5846854
Abstract: This circuit comprises an insulating substrate covered on at least part of its surface by a fine conducting layer (7) whose geometrical form corresponds to the layout chosen for the circuit; the said conducting layer having one or more very fine grooves (9) with a depth of more than 1 .mu.

  • Patent number: 5585958
Abstract: A device comprising a clear substrate (24) supporting at least one thin, clear, electronically conductive work electrode (23); a substrate (5, 3) supporting at least one electronically conductive counter electrode (2); at least one intermediate layer (25,26) providing electrochromism; and a means for supplying current to the ends of the electrodes (23) and counter electrodes (23) and counter electrodes (2), optionally combined with a means for supplying current into said clear electrodes (23) and/or counter electrodes. An array of counter electrodes configured in fine lines and/or an additional current supplying means may be formed by means of a fabric, lap or grid assembly of conductive (2) and non-conductive (3) wires (3) being arranged with respect to wire (2) in such a way that the latter are kept apart, and/or that the strength of the assembly is promoted.

  • Patent number: 5556673
Abstract: These transparent members, capable of withstanding mechanical stresses, comprise at least one glass member (A1) of stem, reed, tube, strip or sheet type and/or glass members (A2) of bead, particle or fragment type, transparent fibers (B) and a cured transparent resin (C) in which the fibers (B) and the members (A2) are embedded; the fibers (B) and the resin (C) with which they are coated being bonded to the members (A1), the resin (C) being chosen so as to exhibit, in the cured state, a refractive index which does not differ, at a wavelength of 510-520 nm, by more than 0.001 from that of the fibers (B) and from that of the members (A1) and (A2), it being nevertheless possible for the difference in index between the resin (C) and the members (A1) of strip or sheet type to range up to 0.01 when these members are large in dimension in relation to the overall structural member.

  • Patent number: 5268615
Abstract: The disclosure relates to cathode-ray tubes that have to be used at a low level of luminance. A zone of the screen of the tube is covered with a luminophore of high sensitivity and is associated with a luminance sensor by an optic fiber that measures the luminance of the tube at chosen instants corresponding to an excitation of said luminophore by an electron beam deflected towards the part of the zone facing the fiber. The luminance signal is compared with a desired value and the result of the comparison is used to modify the cut-off voltage of the tube through action on the voltage of the cathode or of the Wehnelt gate of the tube. This device can be applied to cathode-ray tubes used in aircraft.

  • Patent number: 4323934
Abstract: Apparatus for compensating for the absence of signals among a plurality of correlated signals, which occur simultaneously and which have carrier components, is disclosed herein. Such apparatus comprises detector means responsive to the absence of the carrier for longer than a predetermined time for selectively connecting output signals from channels where the carriers are present to the outputs of those channels where carriers are absent. The apparatus of the invention operates in real time without delay devices. Preferably, the invention is embodied in an apparatus for reproducing magnetically recorded, stereophonic signals, functioning to prevent dropouts from affecting the quality of the output signals and the sound corresponding thereto.
