    Abstract: A method of processing a body having a surface of which at least a portion is vitreous and during which the vitreous region or regions of the surface become(s) activated. While the surface is at elevated temperature, it is contacted by gaseous hydrogen in a non-oxidizing, dehydrated atmosphere, after such hydrogen has been conditioned by contact with a substance at elevated temperature which is capable of provoking the fixation of hydrogen to the vitreous region or regions of the surface.
