  • Publication number: 20210193269
Abstract: The present invention enables accurate identification of organisms by analyzing their DNA sequences and, based on their DNA sequences, assessing classification annotations, such as taxonomic, systematic, or functional annotations. Sequence-based identification of life forms as described herein can be used for diagnostic purposes, for example. Further, the techniques disclosed herein offer advantages over conventional culture-based techniques. Example embodiments are related to methods for assessing classification annotations assigned to DNA sequences of organisms. One example embodiment includes a method of identifying a centroid DNA sequence of one or more organisms. The method includes obtaining a plurality of DNA sequences from one or more organisms, annotating each DNA sequence with a classification annotation, and grouping the plurality of DNA sequences into a plurality of groups.

  • Publication number: 20210158237
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for performing vegetation management processes. The processes can include obtaining first data identifying vegetation growth proximate to utility lines. The processes can include identifying a set of trees as being likely to interfere with a respective utility line near the tree. The processes can include determining, for each tree in the set of trees, an impact score that indicates a severity of a power outage that would be caused by interference of the tree with a power line. The processes can include selecting, based on the impact scores, individual trees to be trimmed. The processes can include generating trimming data that includes the location of the tree on a graphical map, and providing the trimming data for display on the one or more computing devices.

  • Publication number: 20180046756
Abstract: For assessing classification annotations assigned to DNA sequences stored in a reference database, the DNA sequences are grouped by species (S1) using established classification schemes. Subsequently, a measure of distance between pairs of DNA sequences is determined (S41) by aligning (S31) the respective sequences and determining the measure of distance (S41) based on a score of similarity between the aligned DNA sequences. Determined are one or more centroid sequences (S42) which have the shortest aggregate measure of distance to the other DNA sequences in the respective group (species). Assigned to the DNA sequences (S5) as a quantitative confidence level for their classification annotations is in each case the measure of distance between the respective DNA sequence and the centroid sequence.

  • Patent number: 9796470
Abstract: A method of assisting a pilot in order to minimize the risks of an aircraft rolling over on the ground, the aircraft having a main rotor and a yaw movement control rotor (4), together with lateral cyclic pitch control means for the main rotor and yaw movement control means for the yaw movement control rotor. At least one measurement is taken relating to left forces exerted on a left side undercarriage and to right forces exerted on a right side undercarriage in order to evaluate asymmetry, if any, between the left and right forces, and then a recommended position (26) is determined for at least one of the yaw and lateral cyclic pitch control means in order to make the left and right forces more symmetrical. Each recommended position is displayed on a display unit.
