  • Patent number: 4466248
Abstract: A control method and device for the waste gate of a turbocharged internal combustion engine. This exhaust discharge control device entails a waste gate held closed by at least one spring which pushes it back into the closed position against the engine air feed pressure prevailing immediately downstream from the compressor and acting on a control piston for the gate in order to bring about the opening of the gate and to bypass the turbine. The control chamber (20) delimited by at least a part of the surface of the control piston (22) is connected by a conduit (25) and a control valve (27) to a source of fluid under pressure (29, 28a). The control valve (27) is activated by the accelerator pedal (35) of the engine in the area (36) of low engine loads. The invention is applicable to the automatic bypassing of a supercharging turbocompressor's turbine at low engine loads.

  • Patent number: 4439377
Abstract: The carburetor comprises a body provided with a fuel nozzle device, a choke valve and a butterfly rotatably mounted in the body respectively above and below the nozzle system. A spring pulls the choke valve into its fully closed position. A diaphragm sensitive to low pressure prevailing in the intake manifold of the engine is connected to a linkage forming a connection between the choke valve and the diaphragm. A manually operated cam includes a stop which is movable between an active position and a retracted position where it allows, during cold operation, the diaphragm and the linkage to pivot the choke valve between its minimum and maximum opening positions, according to the load on the engine.

  • Patent number: 4385009
Abstract: The invention relates to an automatic choke device for carburators having at least two barrels. The device consists of a control element for the valves choke of all the barrels of the carburator that work together with a control element of the butterfly of the second barrel of the carburator, each element being activated by a related action of a thermally sensitive element and of a pressure gradient which is applied at the outlet of a vacuum collector by means of a pneumatic organ.

  • Patent number: 4008297
Abstract: In this automatic starting device for internal combustion engine carburetors, comprising a strangler starter shutter, linkage means for controlling this shutter incorporating a temperature responsive element, a cam connected through spring means to said shaft and co-acting with the positive throttle control linkage, said cam having a first cam face controlling the normal idling position of said throttle, followed by another cam face controlling the accelerated idling position thereof, the strangler starter shutter control linkage further comprises resilient connecting means adapted to yield in the fully open position of said shutter, the accelerated idling cam face extending in such a manner that it will still co-act along a predetermined stroke with said positive throttle control linkage after said shutter has reached its fully open position.

  • Patent number: 3948236
Abstract: A method and apparatus for regulating the fuel supply of internal combustion engines having carburetion, specifically the richness of the air-fuel mixture, as a function of engine speed and atmospheric pressure. The richness is controlled by a supply of pressurized air downstream from the carburetor in the intake manifold, which is controlled in a self-evident manner by a bellows and by the amplified pressure at the carburetor venturi. Application to internal combustion engines with carburetors using a pump supplying pressurized air for anti-pollution purposes is intended.
