  • Publication number: 20200197653
Abstract: A mobile pain management device for managing pain of a patient, the device includes a nerve block engageable with a first nerve of the patient and an electrical stimulation device engageable with a second nerve of the patient. The device includes an analgesic dispensing system having analgesic solution stored therein, the analgesic dispensing system connected to the nerve block such that when the nerve block is activated, the dispensing system provides at least a portion of the analgesic solution to the nerve block. The device includes a control module, in response to executable instructions, providing pain relieve the patient through engagement of the nerve block and the electrical stimulation. And the device includes a sensor detecting feedback from the patient such that the control module modifies the providing of pain relief to the patient based on the feedback.

  • Patent number: 9168351
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards instruments and methods for discharging an anesthetic drug on a continuous basis for use as a nerve block. In accordance with the present invention, a catheter assembly is provided that comprises an electrically conductive wire, a protective sheath and an inflatable balloon. The inflatable balloon is at the distal end of the catheter capable of being inflated and deflated. A balloon channel terminates within the inflatable balloon at the distal end of the catheter and extends proximally along the length of the catheter to the proximal end of the catheter. The balloon channel has a balloon channel opening at a distal end of the balloon channel within the inflatable balloon, capable of releasing an injected substance into the inflatable balloon. The balloon channel further has a balloon channel injection opening at a proximal end of the balloon channel, capable of receiving an injected substance.

  • Patent number: 7980456
Abstract: The present invention includes a system and method for monitoring a user's pace and providing an indication of the user's average pace in conjunction with performing an activity. The method according to one embodiment of the present invention includes monitoring a user's pace relating to the performance of the activity and calculating pace data relating the user. In response to a first signal, the method stores the pace data and in response to a second signal retrieves the pace data. The method then calculates an assistance pace for the user over a defined time interval and transmits an output signal reflecting the assistance pace based the pace data, such as in the example of a golf club assisting in the swinging pace of the golf club.

  • Publication number: 20100087755
Abstract: A tool (10) for introducing a catheter or wire into subcutaneous tissue including a housing (11). A needle extends forward from the housing so as to serve as the member through which the catheter or wire is introduced. An introducer assembly (40, 240) attached to the housing allows the practitioner to, with the hand the holds the housing advance/retract the catheter or wire. Other control members (62a, 62b) on the housing allow the practitioner to, with the same hand, regulate the level of the stimulating signal sourced to the needle, catheter or wire and to select to which component the needle or the conductor associated with the catheter or wire, to which the stimulating signal is applied.
