  • Patent number: 6137357
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transmitter power control and a control arrangement employed for transmitter power control. The control arrangement comprises a control element (1) controlled by a control signal, a sampling means (3) for taking samples of a signal from the control element (1). The control arrangement further comprises a detector (4), an adder (5) and a loop filter (6). The adder (5) and loop filter (6) form a controller for receiving a signal which is transmitted by the detector (4) and forms part of a feedback signal for controlling the control element (1). Between the input and output of the controller, the control arrangement comprises a parallel loop which, when being activated, keeps the feedback loop closed when the sample signal is outside the dynamic range of the detector (4). Keeping the feedback loop closed enables transmitter power control without discontinuities.

  • Patent number: 5987312
Abstract: A base station receiver and a reception method in a CDMA cellular radio system includes, in each cell, at least one base station communicating with a plurality of mobile stations situated within its area. The base stations measure the direction angle of a signal arriving from each mobile station with respect to the base station, and communicate with the mobile stations using antenna beams that change in time. The angles of the greatest gain of the beams are adjusted according to signal components arriving from the mobile station. In order to provide detection of good quality without a great deal of calculation, the detection of the desired signal utilizes simultaneously several signals received from different mobile stations taking into account the incoming direction of the signals when selecting the signals.

  • Patent number: 5789997
Abstract: A power divider/combiner which can be installed flexibly, with small changes either as a divider/combiner or as a lossless transmission line. The configuration of the power divider/combiner into a lossless transmission line is realized by a parallel connection of two non-symmetrical transmission lines which usually have different impedances. One of the transmission lines is a branch present in a Wilkinson divider, and the other is an extra branch formed inside the divider/combiner.

  • Patent number: 5598126
Abstract: An arrangement for controlling a high-frequency power amplifier, including a high-frequency power amplifier, a feedback line between the input side and the output side of the high-frequency power amplifier, a control connected to the input side of the high-frequency power amplifier and communicating with the feedback line, a sampler and a detector connected to the feedback line between the output side and the input side of the high-frequency power amplifier, as well as a switch connected to the forward line for bringing the high-frequency power amplifier to an OFF state controlled by a control signal. A parallel loop provided with a reference voltage feed is connected to the feedback line. The loop includes a signal adapter, the transfer function of which is dimensioned to substantially correspond to the transfer function of a power control loop constituted by the forward line and the feedback line, measured at switching points of the parallel loop.

  • Patent number: 5585762
Abstract: An arrangement for controlling the operation of a high-frequency power amplifier includes a high-frequency power amplifier connected to a forward line and a control, and an attenuator connected to the input side thereof. A sampler and a detector are connected to a feedback line between the output side and the input side of the high-frequency power amplifier. An amplifier is connected to the feedback line on the input side of the detector, the gain of the latter amplifier being of the same order of magnitude as the attenuation provided by the attenuator.
