  • Patent number: 5650786
Abstract: Disclosed is a device to compensate for the aiming errors caused by malfunctions in phase-shifters of electronic scanning antennas. With the electronic scanning antenna being plane and having a power distribution that is symmetrical in amplitude and in phase, the device has means positioning a malfunctioning phase-shifter and its symmetrical phase-shifter in supplementary phase states. Application notably to landing systems requiring high precision for the aiming of the beam in free space.

  • Patent number: 5279165
Abstract: Disclosed are a method and a device to measure wind-related stresses in a rotating system. It is based on the studies made by the Applicant which have shown that the power given by the motors driving the system rotationally are a function of these stresses. A measurement of the power, or of any quantity characteristic of this power (such as current, cos.phi. pressure, etc.) therefore enables a simple measurement of the wind-related stresses. If we set a limit value of power (or of a characteristic quantity) related to the limit velocity of the wind beyond which the forces to which the system is subjected are excessive, it becomes easy, by way of a comparison, to obtain a condition for the operation of the motors. The disclosure can also be used, in systems carrying out an angle measurement, to make a correction of this measurement.

  • Patent number: 5053777
Abstract: The measurement of the stability of a radar in transmission/reception includes two steps. During a first step, video voltage signals leaving a phase detector of the radar receiver are measured at significant instants where said signals are capable of undergoing fluctuations. These signals come from a signal reflected by a fixed target and received by the radar. During a second step, an additional signal with pre-determined phase and amplitude is superimposed on the received signal in the receiver, in order to substantially cancel the stable parts of the voltage signals and to measure the fluctuations of the voltage signals thus obtained at said significant instants. The instrument to measure these fluctuations advantageously includes analog/digital converters with a small number of bits.

  • Patent number: 3984788
Abstract: A microwave power generator comprises a cavity resonator and at least two oscillators built using transmission lines and negative resistance diodes, magnetically coupled to the resonator. At least one additional oscillator is added and electrically coupled to the resonator at a point where the electric field is at a maximum, increasing the volumetric power delivered by the generator, by 50%.
