  • Publication number: 20100208582
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments relate to a network node implementing redundant cards and configured to synchronize sequence numbers, and a related method. The network node may include a fabric configured to route packets towards a destination. Furthermore, the network node may include an active card configured to establish at least one link to a destination node, generate a sequence number for each packet to be sent, and send a messaging packet including at least one sequence number from the active card to inactive cards over a communication channel on a data path in the fabric. Finally, the network node may include an inactive card configured to receive the messaging packet including the at least one sequence number from the active card over the communication channel, extract the at least one sequence number, and synchronize operation of the inactive card to the active card using the at least one sequence number.

  • Patent number: 7420926
Abstract: A method for identifying faulty modules within telecommunication devices, such as ATM switches, involves generating and attaching verification codes, such as a CRC or checksum codes, to data packets at an upstream location determining the integrity of the verification codes at each of multiple downstream location within a telecommunication device; and signaling an error condition where a corrupted data packet has been detected. A verification code may be written to a field of a data packet which is not used while the packet is in transit through the telecommunication device.

  • Publication number: 20080069149
Abstract: Apparatus and methods of recovering synchronization for multiple-link communications are disclosed. Streams of communication traffic on a plurality of communication links from which communication traffic is to be extracted and combined into a single communication traffic stream are monitored for receipt of synchronization information for each link. In the event that an error occurs in receipt of the synchronization information for any of the communication links, a stream received on each affected link is modified. For example, traffic may be removed from or inserted into a received stream where synchronization information for a link is received twice or received earlier than expected, respectively. If synchronization information for a link is missing, then it may be generated and inserted into the stream received on that link.

Abstract: The present invention provides method and system for identifying a faulty component in a group of components, the group comprising in a connected configuration at least a first component connected to a second component, and further connected to at least a third component. In an embodiment, the method comprises: (i) monitoring for at least one fault at a component connection interface; and (ii) upon detection of a fault, identifying the faulty component utilising information from the fault and at least one rule for identifying the faulty component. The rules are defined from at least one characteristic of the fault, such as location and frequency, and at least one characteristic of the configuration.

  • Patent number: 6771605
Abstract: A method for identifying faulty modules within telecommunication devices, such as ATM switches, involves generating and attaching verification codes, such as CRC or checksum codes, to data packets, such as ATM cells, at an upstream location, determining the integrity of the verification codes at each of multiple downstream location within a telecommunication device; and signaling an error condition where a corrupted data packet has been detected. A verification code may be written to a filed of a data packet which is not used while the ATM cell is in transit through the telecommunication device, thereby identifying a faulty module device without adversely affecting throughput.

  • Publication number: 20030236833
Abstract: The present invention relates to a conferencing architecture, and also to a logic control module and a conferencing module. The conferencing architecture, logic control module and conferencing module grant some of a group of terminal users communication rights to communicate together. The conferencing architecture includes both the logic control module and the conferencing module. The logic control module is in communication with the group of terminal users, and maintains a list of at least one predetermined criterion and associated communication rights. The logic control module monitors status of the terminal users and, upon a change of status of at least one of the terminal users, if the change of status corresponds to at least one of the predetermined criterion, generates a message for modifying the communication rights accordingly. The conferencing module receives the message and changes the communication rights amongst the terminal users in accordance with the message.

  • Patent number: 6639899
Abstract: A method for verifying the integrity of data payloads of ATM cells passing through a switching device involves computing a payload integrity verification code for the payload portion of an ATM cell. The payload integrity verification code may be generated according to any error detection or error correction scheme. Preferably, the payload integrity verification code is stored in a portion of the standard ATM cell header which is not used while the cell is passing through the switching device. Preferably the payload integrity verification code is stored in all, or a portion of, the virtual path identifier or virtual connection identifier fields. The invention allows for the immediate identification of cells having corrupted payload data. Different actions may be taken on the detection of errors in the ATM cell header and ATM cell payloads respectively.

  • Patent number: 6545979
Abstract: A system and method for calculating round trip delay (RTD) values in a switched digital network such as an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network. A loopback cell such as an ATM operation and maintenance (OAM) cell is used to carry a delta value through the network. The delta value, which represents a processing interval at a loopback node or an intermediate node, is calculated utilizing timestamps generated at specific ingress and egress ports of network nodes. Cell Transfer Delay (CTD) and Cell Delay Variations (CDV) values are calculated based on the measured RTD.

  • Patent number: 6453161
Abstract: A method and system for responding to a trigger condition detected during the handling of a call connection in an intelligent network (IN). Upon receipt of an IN trigger, a service interaction manager in a service control point queries a home location register for a subscriber involved in the call connection requesting subscriber subscription information. The service interaction manager also queries a service library associated with the service control point to determine which of an implicated set of services are currently available in the service library and what the properties of those services are.
