    Abstract: A method generates a locating signal which indicates the location of a vehicle, in particular that of a track-bound vehicle. Accordingly, there is provision that a previously stored reference object in the surroundings of the vehicle is identified and the reference object is subjected to an intersection image or mixed image-distance measurement and the locating signal is generated by evaluating the intersection image or mixed image-distance measurement.
