    Abstract: A vehicle body panel includes a plastic sheet that forms a portion of an outer skin of a vehicle. Prior to deep-drawing the vehicle body panel, a rear side of the plastic sheet is flame-treated. In one example, the rear side is silica-coated during flame treating. Subsequently, the rear side of the plastic sheet is provided with a foam backing or an injection-molded backing.
