  • Patent number: 11313156
Abstract: The manual release mechanism described herein enables a passenger to attempt to manually open the transit door, but delays opening until the vehicle is no longer moving. A motion transfer device (14) moves to an unlocking position of the door lock (10) only when the manual release mechanism is activated to store energy in a mechanical energy storage device (40), and an electromechanical device (26) is de-energized to release the motion transfer device (14).

  • Publication number: 20220106815
Abstract: A vehicle door lock release mechanism includes a plate assembly coupled with a vehicle, sliding plates that slide in opposite directions, an elastic member coupled with the plate assembly, and electromagnets coupled with the plate assembly. One electromagnet may be energized to prevent movement of a first sliding plate while a second sliding plate may move responsive to a release cable being pulled. The second electromagnet may be energized to magnetically couple with and prevent movement of the second sliding plate once the second sliding plate reaches the second electromagnet. The elastic member may be stretched and store energy from the release cable being pulled while both the first and second electromagnets remain energized. The first electromagnet may be de-energized to permit movement of the first sliding plate and release the energy stored in the elastic member for opening a door of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10994752
Abstract: A door operator system for moving a door of a vehicle between open and closed positions includes a track defined in a base, the track having a curved portion at an end thereof; a drive bracket configured to suspend the door from the base, the drive bracket being slidably movable along the track between an open position and a closed position adjacent to the curved portion; a drive mechanism configured to cause movement of the drive bracket between the open and closed positions; and a locking system configured to retain the drive bracket in the closed position. When the drive bracket is in the closed position, the curved portion engages a cam follower of the locking system to retain the cam follower in a locked position that is over center with respect to a plane perpendicular to the track and a plane parallel to the track.

  • Patent number: 7228804
Abstract: A locking arrangement for a door system of a transit vehicle includes a combination of a lock mechanism and an electromagnetic brake. The lock mechanism enables positive locking of at least one door but does not require substantial contact between moving and stationary lock elements. The lock mechanism is connected with the manual release means for door opening during an emergency. The electromagnetic brake maintains door seal compression in the closed and locked condition which improves sealing capabilities and provides for reliable lock mechanism operation. Such combination provides locking redundancy and meets various requirements regarding annunciation and manual release operation.

  • Patent number: 7004516
Abstract: A lock latch mechanism disposed within a powered locking device of a transit vehicle door system for maintaining a lock lever in an unlock position without the aid of the lock actuator. The lock latch mechanism includes a lock latch lever biased for engagement with an unlock cam through the use of a bias spring. The lock latch mechanism further includes a reset lever assembly engaging such lock latch lever during the door closing motion to allow movement of the lock lever form such unlocking position into such locking position to maintain at least one door of the transit vehicle in the fully closed and lock position. A manual release lever is provided to move the lock lever from such locking position into such unlocking position enabling the lock latch mechanism to maintain the lock lever in such unlocked position.

  • Patent number: 6718694
Abstract: The present invention teaches a powered door operator for passenger transit vehicles having a drive nut assembly engaging a door hanger bracket substantially connected to a door disposed within an aperture of the vehicle structure. Such drive nut further engaging a drive screw to move a door for covering and uncovering an aperture for ingress and egress of passengers in a wall of a transit vehicle upon rotation of the drive screw enabled by a rotary prime mover. The drive assembly comprises a housing having an internal cavity, at least one drive nut insert having a helix portion substantially identical to the drive screw helix and disposed within said internal cavity, and a retaining clip engaging said at least one drive nut insert for substantial retainment thereof. Retaining clip further provides for simple replacement of such at least one drive nut insert during maintenance cycles thereby substantially eliminating periodic lubrication generally employed with powered door operators of the prior art.

  • Patent number: 6688042
Abstract: A lock mechanism enabling locking of a bi-parting set of right hand and left hand door panels respectively suspended from a right hand and left hand door operators, to be driven by the door operators for covering and uncovering an aperture disposed within a passenger transit vehicle. Such lock mechanism disposed intermediate the door operators. The lock mechanism is capable of operating in a pushback and non pushback arrangement providing a fully-locked state, for each of the two bi-parting doors of a passenger transit vehicle. The integrated design allows the central lock mechanism to be installed and/or maintained over a doorway with only minimal adjustments needed to assure that the door lock assemblies operate in unison. As compared to separate door lock assemblies for each door panel as is typical of prior art designs, the central lock mechanism enables the door panels to be closed and locked more reliably and with better sealing against weather and noise.
