  • Publication number: 20210257800
Abstract: Designs of fiber lasers with a laser resonator with an intracavity Raman-suppressing slanted fiber Bragg sating to provide bidirectional suppression of Raman light.
    Type: Application
    Filed: February 16, 2021
    Publication date: August 19, 2021
    Inventors: Benoit Sévigny, André Vincelette
  • Patent number: 10400579
Abstract: A signal processing apparatus which has an input for receiving a signal conveying a response from first and second optical components to an optical excitation. The first and second optical components are in an optical sensor which is intended to be placed in a sensing zone. The sensing zone contains hydrogen susceptible to migrate into the optical sensor. The signal processing apparatus has a processing entity for processing the response from the first and second optical components to derive information on hydrogen concentration in the optical sensor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 31, 2007
Date of Patent: September 3, 2019
    Assignee: WEATHERFORD CANADA LTD.
Inventors: André Vincelette, Paul Lefebvre, Jean-François Nadeu
  • Patent number: 9341778
Abstract: An optical fiber cable for installation in a subterranean formation, where the temperature could be in excess of 150 degrees C. The optical fiber cable has an outer metallic jacket defining an elongated conduit with an internal elongated channel that receives an optical fiber. The optical fiber has two strands joined by a splice. A splice protector has a body with a passageway receiving the splice. The body has an outer region configured to be joined by a fusion weld to the outer metallic jacket.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 8, 2013
Date of Patent: May 17, 2016
    Assignee: WEATHERFORD CANADA PARTNERSHIP

  • Publication number: 20070147737
Abstract: An apparatus for inducing of the index of refraction of a substrate sensitive to electromagnetic radiation. The apparatus is capable of generating a first beam of electromagnetic radiation and a second beam of electromagnetic radiation that is different from the first beam. The first and the second beams converge toward a treatment area on the substrate, which is illuminated with electromagnetic radiation. The first beam and the second beam interact to create an interference pattern over a limited portion of the treatment area.

  • Publication number: 20060245692
Abstract: A package for holding a temperature sensitive optical device. The package includes a substrate, and a first link connecting to the optical device at a first attachment point, and connecting to the substrate at a location remote from the first attachment point. The package also includes a second link connecting to the optical device at a second attachment point that is remote from the first attachment point, the second link connecting to the substrate at a location remote from the second attachment point. The substrate, the first and the second links imposing a strain variation to the optical device in dependence of temperature.

  • Publication number: 20050130340
Abstract: An apparatus for inducing a modification of the index of refraction of a substrate sensitive to electromagnetic radiation. The apparatus is capable of generating a first beam of electromagnetic radiation and a second beam of electromagnetic radiation that is different from the first beam. The first and the second beams converge toward a treatment area on the substrate, which is illuminated with electromagnetic radiation. The first beam and the second beam interact to create an interference pattern over a limited portion of the -treatment area.
