  • Publication number: 20220178317
Abstract: A method for controlling a boost pressure of an engine, which includes a charging device including a compressor and a compressor bypass, the compressor bypass including a blow off valve for opening and closing the compressor bypass. A boost pressure control uses an actual boost pressure and a setpoint boost pressure as input parameters. A first compressor pressure ratio is ascertained based on a limit line from a compressor characteristic map and an engine absorption characteristic for the engine. A second compressor pressure ratio is ascertained based on the limit line, a mass flow, and a throttle characteristic curve for the blow off valve. A maximum permissible compression ratio for the compressor is ascertained from the first and second compressor pressure ratios. A maximum permissible boost pressure is ascertained as a function of the maximum permissible compression ratio. The boost pressure control is limited to the maximum permissible boost pressure.

  • Patent number: 8365761
Abstract: A regulator unit for regulating a flap opening of a flap arranged in a mass flow line includes: an analyzer unit which is designed for providing an analysis signal on the basis of a predefined desired pressure difference and a difference between pressures upstream and downstream from the flap; a regulator which is designed for determining a trigger signal from the analysis signal according to a regulating characteristic; and a control element-regulating unit which is designed for regulating the flap opening of the flap in the mass flow line in response to the trigger signal.

  • Publication number: 20090038309
Abstract: A supercharging device, especially for supercharging internal combustion engines, having a first supercharging device and an additional supercharging device, which each have one compressor part and each have one turbine part, and a supercharging pressure prevails in an intake manifold on the intake side of the internal combustion engine, and an exhaust gas counterpressure prevails in an exhaust gas manifold, on the outlet side of the internal combustion engine. A switching element is provided, in the intake tract of the internal combustion engine, between the compressor part of the first supercharging device and the compressor part of the additional supercharging device, using which, switching over is performed from the series connection of the compressor parts to the parallel connection of the compressor parts and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 7174777
Abstract: A method for controlling at least one actuator in a mass flow duct, which makes it possible to implement a predefined pressure upstream from the at least one actuator more rapidly. The flow resistance of the mass flow duct is modified by controlling the at least one actuator. A pressure upstream from the at least one actuator in the mass flow duct is predefined. A variable characterizing the flow resistance of the mass flow duct is determined as a function of the predefined pressure. The at least one actuator is controlled to set the related variable characterizing the flow resistance of the mass flow duct.

  • Publication number: 20060081799
Abstract: A method and a device for triggering an, in particular pneumatic, actuator in a mass-flow line is provided, which allow for a precise setting of the actuator without automatic position control and position feedback. For this purpose, a setpoint position is provided for setting the actuator. An actuating variable is provided for setting the setpoint position. The actuating variable is provided in such a way that an equilibrium of forces acting on the actuator sets in at the specified setpoint position of the actuator.
