  • Publication number: 20170015907
Abstract: Processes for controlling afterburn in a reheater and loss of entrained solid particles in reheater flue gas are provided. Carbonaceous biomass feedstock is pyrolyzed using a heat transfer medium forming pyrolysis products and a spent heat transfer medium comprising combustible solid particles. The spent heat transfer medium is introduced into a fluidizing dense bed. The combustible solid particles of the spent heat transfer medium are combusted forming combustion product flue gas in a dilute phase above the fluidizing dense bed. The combustion product flue gas comprises flue gas and solid particles entrained therein. The solid particles are separated from the combustion product flue gas to form separated solid particles. At least a portion of the separated solid particles are returned to the fluidizing dense bed.

  • Patent number: 9399603
Abstract: A process is presented for increasing the conversion efficiency of oxygenates to olefins. The conversion of oxygenates recycles unconverted oxygenates and oxygenate by-products to a second reactor unit. The present of oxygenate by-products decreases the efficiency of the methanol to olefins reaction, and passing recycled oxygenates to a second reactor unit maintains the methanol to olefins conversion efficiency while converting the by-products in a secondary zone.

  • Publication number: 20150353448
Abstract: A process for a liquid phase selective hydrogenation of acetylene to ethylene in a reaction zone. In order to decrease the selectivity to C4+ hydrocarbons, the concentration of acetylene in solvent is lowered by recycling solvent, using a split feed injection, or both. The streams can be split in to equal or unequal portions. A hot separator may be used to separate solvent from the reactor effluent, and the solvent may be recovered and used to decrease the concentration of acetylene in the solvent.

  • Patent number: 8916739
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for preparing normal paraffins and hydrocarbon product streams are provided herein. A method of preparing normal paraffins includes providing an unsaturated feed that includes an unsaturated compound that has at least one alkenyl group. The unsaturated feed is epoxidized to convert the at least one alkenyl group in the unsaturated compound to an epoxide functional group, thereby converting the unsaturated compound to an epoxide compound that has at least one epoxide functional group. The at least one epoxide functional group in the epoxide compound is converted to at least one secondary hydroxyl functional group, thereby converting the epoxide compound to a hydroxyl-functional compound that has at least one hydroxyl functional group. The hydroxyl-functional compound is deoxygenated to form normal paraffins.
