Patent number: 8396627Abstract: In a method for operating a vehicle with wheel suspensions which each have a characteristic curve, the characteristic curve generates a relation between the weight of the vehicle, applied to each wheel suspension, and the respective height of the vehicle at the wheel suspension point. At least two height sensors detect the height at the wheel suspensions, a reference height is associated with the height sensors and represents a pre-defined loading state of the vehicle. The method provides: detecting the height, determining the forces applied to the vehicle, determining the acceleration of the vehicle on the basis of the forces applied to the vehicle, determining an estimated value for the mass of the vehicle from the forces and the acceleration of the vehicle, and determining values representing the reference heights from at least the estimated value for the mass of the vehicle, the characteristic curves of the wheel suspensions, and the detected heights.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 2007Date of Patent: March 12, 2013Assignee: Continental Automotive GmbHInventors: Andreas Jung, Rainer Marstaller, Andreas Mayer

Patent number: 8392102Abstract: In a method for estimating the height of the center of gravity of a vehicle, a lateral acceleration is determined. Predefined first and second driving situation are detected at a first time as a function of a determined roll rate or of a determined roll angle and at a second time as a function of the roll rate or of the roll angle. In a time period delimited by the first and second times, a differential angle by which a vehicle body tilts during the time period is determined. Also determined are an angular speed: formula and an angular acceleration: formula of the vehicle tilting movement in the time period. A height of the center of gravity of the vehicle is estimated on the basis of an equation of motion as a function of the lateral acceleration, of the differential angle, of the angular speed: formula and of the angular acceleration: formula.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2007Date of Patent: March 5, 2013Assignee: Continental Automotive GmbHInventors: Jens Fiedler, Rainer Marstaller, Andreas Mayer

Patent number: 8370019Abstract: A friction coefficient between at least one tire of a motor vehicle and a roadway is estimated recursively. A kingpin inclination angle is detected or measured. A model determines a lateral friction value by defining a functional correlation between that value and the angle such that a non-linear course of that value relative to the angle is dependant on an initial increase of that value relative to the angle and on a recursively determined estimated value of the friction coefficient. The initial increase is defined substantially independently from the recursively determined estimated value. In addition, a measurement variable of the driving dynamics is captured. Depending on the lateral friction value, the driving dynamics model variable is determined. Furthermore, a variance between the driving dynamics measurement variable and the driving dynamics model value is determined. The recursion when acquiring the estimated value includes that the estimated value is adjusted.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2007Date of Patent: February 5, 2013Assignee: Continental Automotive GmbHInventors: Ning Bian, Jens Fiedler, Celine Gamulescu, Andreas Mayer

Patent number: 8280586Abstract: In a method for determining the actual yaw rate and slip angle of a vehicle, a slip angle characteristic is first determined by a driving condition sensor system, a yaw rate sensor and a position determination system. If the slip angle characteristic remains below a threshold value, the actual yaw angle is adjusted to match the actual speed vector angle. Otherwise, the actual yaw angle is determined by a continuous value integration using yaw rate sensor values and the slip angle is calculated as the difference between the yaw angle and the speed vector angle. The slip angle is reliably determined with sufficient accuracy, without the need for additional sensors, if the values of the slip angle increase over several seconds. In addition, the yaw angle is reliably determined over long periods of time and the deviations in the values that occur in the integrating methods are adjusted at frequent intervals.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2006Date of Patent: October 2, 2012Assignee: Continental Automotive GmbHInventors: Andreas Jung, Andreas Mayer, Peter Trippler

Patent number: 8252098Abstract: A device for filtering nanoparticulate matter below 300 nm in size from ambient air within a defined enclosed space comprises at least one filter medium containing at least one filter material, and a fan or blower, which blows or draws the air through the filter medium does so with sufficiently low air velocity in the filter medium that the air has a long residence time in the filter medium, during which time adhesive encounters between nanoparticulate matter and the solid phase of the filter material are highly probable. This air velocity is also being sufficiently low to ensure that, once adhesion has taken place, kinetic de-adhesion by the air flow is highly improbable. Such a device allows to keep the nanoparticle count inside the enclosed space kept below 5000/cc, equivalent to ‘natural woodland’, even though external levels may exceeded 200,000/cc: the removal of nanoparticles by cleaning making this <2.5% the external count.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2007Date of Patent: August 28, 2012Assignee: Matter Aerosol AGInventors: Andreas Mayer, Heinz Burtscher, Jan Czerwinski, Markus Kasper, Richard John Artley, Günther Dobrauz, Gordon Edge

Publication number: 20120140685Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention relates to an adaptive filtering apparatus comprising first and second real valued adaptive filters, respectively configured to receive an adaptive filter input signal based upon a transmission signal in a transmission path. The first real valued adaptive filter is configured to operate a real valued adaptive filter algorithm on the input signal to estimate a first intermodulation noise component (e.g., an in-phase component) in a desired signal and to cancel the estimated noise. The second real valued adaptive filter is configured to operate a real valued adaptive filter algorithm on the input signal to estimate a second intermodulation noise component (e.g., a quadrature phase component) in the desired signal and to cancel the estimated noise. Accordingly, each filter operates a real valued adaptive algorithm to cancel a noise component, thereby removing complex cross terms between the components from the adaptive filtering process.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 1, 2010Publication date: June 7, 2012Applicant: Infineon Technologies AGInventors: Christian Lederer, Huemer Mario, Stefan Herzinger, Gernot Hueber, Burkhard Neurauter, Andreas Mayer

Patent number: 8069541Abstract: The invention relates to a device for needling a nonwoven web having on the base thereof at least one needle bar comprising a needle board having a plurality of needles. The needle bar is held by a bar carrier on which a vertical drive engages for oscillating motion of the bar carrier for an up and down movement. Patent number: 8065104Abstract: An inertial measurement unit (IMU) contains three linear acceleration sensors and three rotational speed sensors. For the sensors there are desired installation directions parallel to the co-ordinate axes of a Cartesian co-ordinate system which is fixed to the vehicle. The actual installation directions of the sensors may differ from the desired installation directions owing to incorrect orientations. By comparing accelerations which are measured by the linear acceleration sensors for different attitudes of the vehicle with acceleration values which are known for these different attitudes in the Cartesian co-ordinate system which is fixed to the vehicle, the actual installation directions of the linear acceleration sensors are determined. By using a co-ordinate transformation it is then possible to convert the measured accelerations into the actual accelerations.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2006Date of Patent: November 22, 2011Assignee: Continental Automotive GmbHInventors: Jens Fiedler, Andreas Mayer, Thomas Schweiger, Martin Stratesteffen

Publication number: 20110179611Abstract: An apparatus is described for needling a fibrous web having at least one needle bar. On its underside, the needle bar carries a needle board with a multiplicity of needles, wherein the needle bar is guided via a movably held bar carrier. The bar carrier is driven in an oscillating manner with a superimposed horizontal and vertical movement by a crank mechanism drive. To this end, a phase shifting device is provided, by which the crankshafts of the crank mechanism drive can be adjusted depending on the phase relation.
