  • Publication number: 20140214094
Abstract: A system and method of angularly stable fixation of an implant on a bone includes the steps of making at least one hole in the bone by means of a bone drill. An implant is placed on the bone in a desired position and joining the implant with the bone, such that the implant is prevented from rotation about its attachment point. A system is provided for use in the above described method. The system comprises a bone drill, an implant and a sonotrode for angularly stable fixation of the implant on the bone. The system can further comprise a joining element to join the implant with the bone.

  • Patent number: 8790969
Abstract: A method for selective deposition of Si or SiGe on a Si or SiGe surface exploits differences in physico-chemical surface behavior according to a difference in doping of first and second surface regions. By providing at least one first surface region with a Boron doping of a suitable concentration range and exposing the substrate surface to a cleaning and passivating ambient atmosphere in a prebake step at a temperature lower or equal than 800° C., a subsequent deposition step of Si or SiGe will not lead to a layer deposition in the first surface region. This effect is used for selective deposition of Si or SiGe in the second surface region, which is not doped with Boron in the suitable concentration range, or doped with another dopant, or not doped. Several devices are, thus, provided. The method thus saves a usual photolithography sequence required for selective deposition of Si or SiGe in the second surface region according to the prior art.

  • Publication number: 20140013081
Abstract: An approach for processing data by a pipeline of a single hardware-implemented virtual multiple instance finite state machine (VMI FSM) is presented. Based on a current state and context of an FSM instance, an input token selected from multiple input tokens to enter a pipeline of the VMI FSM, and a status of an environment, a new state of the FSM instance is determined and an output token is determined. The input token includes a reference to the FSM instance. In one embodiment, the reference is an InfiniBand QP number. After a receipt by the pipeline of the first input token and prior to determining the new state of the FSM instance and determining the output token, a logic circuit selects a second input token to enter the pipeline. The second input token includes a reference to a second FSM instance.

  • Patent number: 8599373
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, an ultra-sensitive Raman chemical sensor is provided that is based on an enhanced spontaneous emission as a result of cavity quantum electrodynamic effects. More specifically, the sensor in accordance with the present invention makes use of a double resonance of a microcavity with both the excitation laser frequency and the Raman frequency. As such, the Raman shift corresponds to an integer times the free spectral range of the microcavity. Because the Raman frequency directly depends on the excitation laser's frequency, the fulfillment of the resonance condition for the excitation laser frequency guarantees that resonance with the Raman frequency is also satisfied.

  • Patent number: 8594071
Abstract: In order to be able to control the creation of a user channel connection in a communication system using wireless communication between at least one mobile part and one wired part in such a way that a user channel connection is established more quickly upon a connection request indicated by the mobile part or the wired part for the purpose of transmitting user data and, at the same time, due to market requirements, no synchronization pulses are sent by the wired part in the idle state, an initiating device of the communication system (for example, for an incoming call: base station; for an outgoing call: mobile part) sends, from an asynchronous idle state, synchronization pulses (SB) to all available physical resources. Due to the plurality of the sent, available synchronization pulses (SB), rapid synchronization is ensured because the probability is sufficiently increased thereby that a pulse will fall in the search window of a receiver.

  • Patent number: 8590691
Abstract: A logistics system for a sheet-processing machine, in particular a printing press, permits pallets and sheet stacks on transport boards to be displaced along transport paths. Storage spaces are provided for the intermediate storage of sheet stacks and a corner transfer device is provided for the transverse displacement of pallets and sheet stacks. The corner transfer device has two height-adjustable conveying devices disposed at right angles with respect to one another. The transport boards cover the transport path at ground level and the corner transfer device is configured in such a way that all of the transport boards are conveyed at a common height level, for example the height level of the machine hall floor.

  • Patent number: 8566509
Abstract: A method and program product for processing data by a pipeline of a single hardware-implemented virtual multiple instance finite state machine (VMI FSM). An input token of multiple input tokens is selected to enter a pipeline of the VMI FSM. The input token includes a reference to an FSM instance. In one embodiment, the reference is an InfiniBand QP number. After being received at the pipeline, a current state and context of the FSM instance are fetched from an array based on the reference and inserted into a field of the input token. A new state of the FSM instance is determined and an output token is generated. The new state and the output token are based on the current state, context, a first input value, and an availability of a resource. The new state of the first FSM instance is written to the array.
