  • Patent number: 9237434
Abstract: Techniques for performing network-assisted peer discovery with network coding are disclosed. For peer discovery with network coding, a device may generate a network-coded message based on a message assigned to the device and one or more messages received by the device from other devices. The device may transmit a proximity detection signal including the network-coded message. For network-assisted peer discovery with network coding, the device may register with a network for peer discovery and may be provided with at least one parameter to use for peer discovery with network coding. The devices may perform peer discovery with network coding in accordance with the peer discovery parameter(s) received from the network. The device may generate a network-coded message based on the at least one peer discovery parameter and may transmit the network-coded message to enable other devices to detect the device.

  • Patent number: 9237505
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for routing at least a data packet in a wireless sensor network (10), the wireless sensor network (10) comprising: at least a source node (S) that is configurable to transmit at least a data packet; at least a destination node (D) that is configurable to receive the data packet transmitted by the source node (S), and interconnectable network nodes (si) between the source node (S) and the destination node (D) that are configurable to receive and forward the data packet, the method comprising the steps of: operating the network nodes (si) according to a sleep-active schedule comprising at least a sleep mode and an active mode, and configuring the network nodes (si) to have information on their own geographic location and the geographic location of the destination node (D), the method further comprising the steps of: dividing the wireless sensor network (10) into a plurality of disjoint areas (A0, AM-1, A1, A2) that are separated by boundaries; separating each area (A0,

  • Patent number: 8457134
Abstract: Techniques for routing data from a source to a destination in a wireless network are provided. The techniques include broadcasting one or more messages in a network to identify a set of one or more nodes that can be used to forward data towards a destination, routing data from a source to the destination by way of a sequence of one or more data transmissions involving the one or more identified nodes, wherein each data transmission comprises a node that has data addressed to the destination to trigger a distributed procedure among the one or more identified nodes to select a relaying node, and sending the data to the selected relaying node until the destination is reached.
